The best case is no case anyway - you guys that stick a case on straight away don't realise how indestructable these phones are now.

I've dropped my 15 Pro at least 20 times onto my micro cement floor at home - it made more damage to the floor than my phone.

It even flew out of my pocket whilst I was testing an electric bike at about 15 miles an hour and bounced around on the tarmac, barely a mark on it after that.

Apple should make an opaque plastic case.. not sure why they don't. Especially now with the new camera control button. Not everyone wants the transparent case.

Edit: Whoops, just saw the new Beats cases. That's exactly what I'm talking about.. but without the beats branding. Huh oh well. Cool I guess. Weird they offloaded them to beats.

Because they think saving cows and the methane they produce is better than using fossil fuels for plastic.
Except the cows are not going to be saved. They're not killing extra cows just for leather AFAIK. They are using the skin from cows from the meat industry. It's not like they are taking cows, skinning them for their leather, and just tossing the meat in the dump. It's all used.

You’re intentionally or ignorantly ignoring the reason why they stopped doing that.
And what reason would that be? If Apple making a few leather cases is what pushes things over the edge to the point the planet dies, we've got bigger problems than phone cases.

So we can wait for meat eater version back in menu as vegan is discounted? /s

See internet, what happens when you vote with your voice and wallets?
I seriously doubt voices had anything to do with the decision. It’s only wallets. If people were complaining but still buying, Finewoven would still be for sale. Voices = correlation not causation.

What did Apple do for the new camera control button on the iPhone 16 silicon/clear cases?

I've always preferred Apple cases. Had the bumper on my 4S and loved the metal buttons on it. Then I got a leather case when I umgraded to a 5S and put it on my OG SE, but it started coming apart about a month later.

Since the only Apple case for the XR was the clear one, I got one and loved it. I decided to try silicone with my 12 mini but like others have said, it started peeling after a while, so when I got my 15 Pro I went back to the clear case.

My cynical thought the other day was why doesn't Apple just discontinue all their cases and announce a new case sub i.e. push everyone who wants to protect their phone to just get Apple Care+. lol

Will not be missed. Maybe in the future a replacement for FineWoven will be released.

Demand was so high they had to discontinue it. Apple Stores had gotten overcrowded.

I understand why they don't bring back leather. You can't discontinue a product due for some clearly stated reason and then bring it back and ignoring the reason you discontinued it in the first place.

What's wrong with artificial leather though?

(the move is so dumb though xD )

How is plastic better than leather for the environment?
The longer plastic stays in use, the better for the environment it is. So, taking plastic that has been used and using it for another purpose is still better than sourcing new plastic.

You can be pro-environment and recognize that fine woven was garbage.

I wanted to support them, but I’m not going to buy an inferior case to do so.

So Apple could commit to designing their devices within a certain spec over a certain period instead of wiggling around the dimensions by 1 or 2mm every revision so you could reuse the same case for 2 or 3 phones. You know getting a few years out of the plastic instead of one maybe... maybe? Oh right, shareholders love selling $50 plastic cases that cost $0.50 to make.
