The best case is no case anyway - you guys that stick a case on straight away don't realise how indestructable these phones are now.

I've dropped my 15 Pro at least 20 times onto my micro cement floor at home - it made more damage to the floor than my phone.

It even flew out of my pocket whilst I was testing an electric bike at about 15 miles an hour and bounced around on the tarmac, barely a mark on it after that.
I disagree. A new iPhone can cost well over US$1,000 and I do like to protect that investment. That's why I plan to get a Spigen clear case for my next iPhone model.

That's what you have phone insurance for you. It costs well over $1000 and thats why I like to feel it the way it was designed and not with some disgusting case ruining that.

I'm still using a case. Even with AppleCare+, getting the phone fixed can be occasionally a hit or miss proposition. Besides, with a decent case, the grip on the phone is often better.

My 'finewoven' wallet was marked straight out of the box, and it doesn't rub out or clean up.

Actually, quick question, when detached, there is no 'Play Sound' like there is for iPhone and iPad.
I've found lost iPad from that play a sound when it's fallen down side of bed... but couldn't find the wallet few days ago, does it not make or play sound?

You can’t even buy them anymore, anywhere, any official apple retailer legit discontinued them from all their sites and third party retail, not even a last minute sales event at all.
My new taupe finewoven case was delivered from Amazon today...

My FineWoven case is in better shape than my leather case was, a year later. I guess they just couldn’t keep the quality uniform?

Meanwhile my wife has broken two in a row.

Apple cases, for phones especially, are for the lazy, seniors worried about compatibility and don't trust 3rd party, those who don't have an Amazon account, or those who got Apple gift cards and need to spend it on something more than the phone in-store.
Or those who get their phone on pre-order and need a case before third party cases actually ship.

Which is why I have a FineWoven case essentially new in (opened) box sitting around. I should have sent it back the same day.

Apple today discontinued its ill-received FineWoven material, introducing no new cases that use the leather replacement. The company has also removed existing FineWoven iPhone cases for older devices from its website, though FineWoven versions of the MagSafe Wallet and AirTag Key Ring continue to be available.

FineWoven has been heavily criticized for its poor performance in comparison to the former leather cases that Apple used to offer. Apple replaced leather last year in order to be more environmentally friendly, but people quickly found that the FineWoven cases are quick to get dirty and begin to fray.

There is no replacement for the FineWoven material, and Apple does not have leather cases or any kind of equivalent for purchase. For the iPhone 16 lineup, customers can choose a Silicone Case or a Clear Case.

Silicone Cases are available in several new colors like fuchsia, ultramarine, star fruit, and lake green, in sizes that fit each of the new iPhone models.

Apple's Beats brand has also introduced a series of new cases for the iPhone 16 lineup, marking the first time that we've seen iPhone accessories from Beats in some time.

Well thanks to all these idiots that complained about it I guess. I at least really liked finewoven...

Complain or not, if they’d been selling well apple would have kept them in the market. Not enough people must have liked them, it seems.

There's always a few outlier for who the fine woven, iPod socks and iPod hifis of this world will be cherished. At least you can pick up spares on the cheap?

Edit: also folks such as myself found these to be inferior to the leather offering. We aren't idiots and the overwhelming evidence suggests this was a poor replacement. I don't appreciate being called an idiot for wanting my money's worth out of a case that costs that much. Might want to reconsider your wording

The problem was it wasn't a valid replacement for the leather case, which is why for the first time in a very long time I don't have an Apple logo on the back of my phone.

Sadly, Apple doesn't have have "the courage" to offer both. Had they, fine woven might have been discontinued even sooner than it was. 😄

Me as well. Mine has a bit of damage as it’s been dropped on concrete, but it protected the phone.
Curious what you like about it in particular- after two of those cases I went with third party due to wear and durability issues. I'd imagine if there was some silent majority that just didn't care and kept.buyimg them Apple would have kept selling them- I doubt people pitching a fit moves the needle at the highest level of the company

For sure $$$ are king. The salesn didnt support the product. People voted with their $$$. But I liked it. I’m not a leather phone case person. So I use alternatives.
