If Apple is keeping the iPhone 14 (starting at $599 for 128GB) and 14 Plus (starting at $699 for 128GB) around, what does that mean for the iPhone SE 4?

Rumors suggest a 6.1 inch OLED display, A18 chip, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, sub $500 price... Why buy an iPhone 14 or 14 Plus? The same goes for the iPhone 15 (starting at $699 for 128GB) and 15 Plus (starting at $799 for 128GB).

It doesn't make sense for Apple to give the iPhone SE 4 all that capability to run Apple Intelligence when the iPhone 14 and 15 cannot and at a lower price point.
Probably means apple will stop selling additional models once the iPhone SE4 is available

I guess they'll get discontinued the moment the new SE arrived.

Will Apple stores still have stock of the 15 Pro until they sell through it?
If you go to a physical Apple Store they should still be selling the 15 Pro at a bit of a discount until Sept. 20th when they get 16 Pro stock. Not available from the online store any more though.

Edit: Also 3rd party retailers and carriers will also have some stock that they are selling off for a while too.

The SE should be at least $200 less than it is listed for now. It is the lousiest deal in the iPhone lineup. Unfortunately for the PWM-sensitive, there is no choice.

BTW, this is why I say there will not be a new SE, unless they update the internals on the SE 3 or resurrect the 11 with updated internals. They would have trouble beating the $599 price of the 2 year old phone with any all-new-design device.
The rumor is the SE4 will be on the iPhone 14 chassis but with an A18 chip, a single camera and the new apple modem. Once the iPhone SE4 is introduced I would Suspect additional iPhone models will stop being sold by Apple. With the iPhone SE3 and 14 (and possibly the a 15) being eliminated, there is lots of headroom for pricing an iPhone SE4. And you know, Apple is just waiting to be able to claim, “Look! We have an all AI capable iPhone lineup.”

The 14 will most likely be discontinued when the SE4 is released. There is precedence for this with both the iPhone 5s (which was discontinued when the 1st gen SE was released) and the iPhone 8 (which was discontinued when the 2nd gen iPhone SE was released). The iPhone 15 will be in a weird place with an older chip and no Apple Intelligence support, but probably with a better camera and better screen (brighter with dynamic island).

The 15 Pro Series is Apple Intelligence enabled so they don’t want it to potentially cannabalize the 16 series sales

Well, moment ip se 4 is announced, 14 and 15 is killed.
and Apple could even potentially discontinue some other iPhone models at the same time.

Is it possible for that to happen? Yes. Is it probable? No.

Has Apple ever discontinued an iPhone midway after introducing a new flagship or when an SE iPhone was introduced? I can't remember that ever happening.

I plan on getting a SE-3 before the SE-4 is released spring 2025.

My opinion only but I like a smaller phone.
Love my SE 3, but it feels a little bit outdated these days. I've been waiting for the SE 4. What are you using that is keeping you from upgrading right now?

The 15 Pro Max has only been out for a year. Hell, it didn't even make the full year (I bought mine like September 22nd). I thought this was a typo but apparently it's not.
