Grab a refurbished SE instead of new for about half the price. Nobody should buy the 2022 SE new when there’s refurbished models.I plan on getting a SE-3 before the SE-4 is released spring 2025.
My opinion only but I like a smaller phone.
Yeah, and not only that. With the big technological gap (A15/16 vs A18, Absence of Apple Intelligence, Lightning vs USB-C…) between the iPhone 14 or 15 and the new 16 is really big. An honest move would have been leaving the SE 3, the 15 and the 16/16Pro. Or even just the 15 and 16/16Pro, despite how much I love my SE 3.If Apple is keeping the iPhone 14 (starting at $599 for 128GB) and 14 Plus (starting at $699 for 128GB) around, what does that mean for the iPhone SE 4?
Rumors suggest a 6.1 inch OLED display, A18 chip, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, sub $500 price... Why buy an iPhone 14 or 14 Plus? The same goes for the iPhone 15 (starting at $699 for 128GB) and 15 Plus (starting at $799 for 128GB).
It doesn't make sense for Apple to give the iPhone SE 4 all that capability to run Apple Intelligence when the iPhone 14 and 15 cannot and at a lower price point.
Yes, when the 1st Gen iPhone SE was introduced in March 2016 the iPhone 5s that it was based on was discontinued. When the 2nd Gen iPhone SE was introduced in April 2020 the iPhone 8 that it was based on was discontinued. Since this iPhone SE is supposed to be based on the iPhone 14 it would make sense for the iPhone 14 to be discontinued when it is introduced. Is it possible for that to happen? Yes. Is it probable? No.
Has Apple ever discontinued an iPhone midway after introducing a new flagship or when an SE iPhone was introduced? I can't remember that ever happening.
Indeed you are correctThe 13 mini was already discontinued last year.
As many have said in this thread, last version pro's are always discontinued when the new model pro's arrive.. This has happened every year going back to the X. The 15Pro/ProMax will still be sold by cellular carriers and 3rd party suppliers for awhile even though Apple stores stop selling themThe 15 Pro Max has only been out for a year. Hell, it didn't even make the full year (I bought mine like September 22nd). I thought this was a typo but apparently it's not.
You’d be hard-pressed to tell the difference between the 13 and 16 if they were fully encased and you didn’t know which one you were using.iPhone 13 discontinued, so RIP mini once and for all.

They're still selling iPhone 12 in my country for $500. Hopefully they'll stop selling it, but I wouldn't count on it since they still sell iPhone 11, but at least now we get rid of iPhone 11.iPhone 13 discontinued, so RIP mini once and for all.

is this your first year of phone releases? every year, they do this. Pro goes, most recent regular gets a price cut.Killing off the 15 so quick?
There is NO reason to upgrade from the 15 Pro: biz analysts also agree that since full "AI" isn't coming around until mid 2025, then why bother when it's halfway thru the 16 cycle and 17 is right around the corner with probably more capabilities? 15 Pro/Max are still great.
Yeah after I posted I scrolled through the thread (And I probably should have done it in reverse) and was surprised this was a common occurrence. It does make a little sense.
Agree. Besides, in the EU plans for AI are for the next year. So, I guess I have my iPhone 15 Pro for two years more. And by then Apple will launch the foldable iPhone 18, which will remind me of those lovely times when I discreetly had my flip phone in any pocket.Happily keeping my 15 Pro - I feel this year I’m getting very good value out of (keeping) it thanks to it being the sole non-16 iPhone that’s getting AI.
Once they announced that, that was enough persuasion for me to stick with it.
And probably paying top dollar subscription! There is no such thing as a free lunch!Dude. ‘Full AI’ is mostly hype. We won’t get full AI for around a decade.
just curious. What are you doing on the phone that requires always on display? I, myself, keep trying to avoid it and use as little as possible. Procrastination is strong with this one..If the regular iPhone 16 had an always-on display, I'd buy one. Nothing in the Pro offering looks compelling to me as a regular user (and I like the non-pro colors and form factor better) so this looks like another non-upgrade year for me.
By the time the Se4 is released they will likely drop the 14 line.If Apple is keeping the iPhone 14 (starting at $599 for 128GB) and 14 Plus (starting at $699 for 128GB) around, what does that mean for the iPhone SE 4?

Here’s a reasonWhat a confusing lineup. Why would someone get the 16 Plus when the 16 Pro is just $100 more and has a lot more features?
With the launch of the new iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple has discontinued some of its older iPhones. As of today, Apple is no longer selling the iPhone 13, and the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max have been replaced with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone SE remains as Apple's most affordable device, with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus each receiving a $100 price drop as they replace the iPhone 13 models. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are also available for $100 less than their equivalent iPhone 16 models, with pricing starting at $699.
While the iPhone 13 and iPhone 15 Pro models have been discontinued by Apple, they may still be available from the refurbished store while supplies last, and third-party retailers will also have some stock available until it sells out.
- iPhone SE - $429
- iPhone 14 - $599, down from $699
- iPhone 14 Plus - $699, down from $799
- iPhone 15 - $699, down from $799

the 13 will morph into the new SE in a few months...It's such a pity that they stop iPhone 13 production because it's still a viable phone for many new users.
They should drop the SE, because it's ancient, and keep the 13 at the SE price.
but Apple like to have a $100 price point gap between cheapest to newest.By the time the Se4 is released they will likely drop the 14 line.
That woild make the most sense. The se3 and the 14 will both be dropped at se4 release.
