We have to assume that the behavior of the home button will no longer change. The next iphones probably do not have a home button.

Also keep in mind that it is a relatively small range of users who suffer from this problem.
Only users who have changed an iphone with a mechanical button for iPhone 7 with iOS10.
Those who have gone from an iPhone 6 / 6s, to an iphone 8 will not notice any problem with the home button.

That does not change the fact of my disappointment with the way of acting of apple of "no matter the previous clients".

For me, what is happening is apple removing features from an "old" device. Which I find unacceptable.
They made an instant response for the iPhone 7 to sell the new home button and remove it when they present a new model (iphone X). Clearly it is intentional obsolescence.

I hope to continue using my iphone 7 a few more years, but this makes me no longer trust apple and I seriously think about what phone to buy when the time comes.

What other features will be removed in future phones when they present the new ones?

same thing, all theory, no fact. "we have to assume"? "clearly it is..."...

Theory? I have checked it personally, there are enough people who complain about the problem in different websites.
Maybe who report about the problem are crazy? A kind of global madness that makes us all see the same problem?

I don't know what more evidence you need.

"i have checked in personally". then it must be true...

the problem is real, for some people. the reason behind it is unknown. an assumption is not a fact.

The issue isn't with seeing things, it's with assuming certain things as a given basically. Like saying that things won't be changed, which we don't really know. Or that things are clearly done on purpose as part of a conspiracy, which we also don't now. Those would be called theories, not givens, or certainties, or anything like that. Has this thread really not covered all of that well enough on practically every other page?

iOS 11.2beta. Still not fix. Hey! maybe in iOS12?

Who has spoken of conspiracy?
It's about business and selling more.

We still don't know if it is a mistake and not intentional, but in beta 11.2 still the same problem, and after the time that has passed, I doubt so much that they will fix it, so I assume they will not do it.
I hope I'm wrong and that it really is a bug.
But it's not the first time that a company makes unethical movements for their own benefit.

you have no PROOF it's an unethical move. and am agreeing that some people have this problem; they're not crazy, who suggested that??? your opinions and assumptions don't make something true; FACTS make something true. and facts require proof.

I have not read the 50 pages, but I've seen people deny the problem. It seemed to me that you were one of them, sorry if it's not like that.

Then it is a matter of time to check if it is an unethical movement.
We just have to wait, we can't do anything else, and see how they will not fix it. December will arrive and the "bug" will remain unresolved.

Edit: I have only come here to express my opinion about the problem, like everyone else, I have not said that what I say is the absolute truth.

This thread is dead on. My first reaction upon updating to iOS 11 was that Apple intentionally crippled the animations and responsiveness of my iPhone 6+ because they want me to buy a new phone.

Basically my iPhone was pwned by Apple with iOS 11.

Even if it's still there in December it still doesn't necessarily mean that it will remain there (some animation/framedrop glitches that were similarly argued about in early days of iOS 10 didn't really fully get addressed/changed until iOS 10.3) or that it was done out of some specific and essentially malicious intent originally.

The other way to view it is a bug was fixed in iOS 11 from iOS 10.3.3 and this was supposed to be the intended behavior from the get-go. I also have seen this issue over exaggerated.

i don't see you saying anything like "I assume", but a lot of "we have to assume". don't speak for me, i won't for you. we all have opinions, which is great. but not one person here knows what apple's plans are, what's happening behind closed doors at apple. anything anyone posts about that is a guess, a theory... and a theory is not a fact.

curious way to solve a bug, making the device slower. Instead of adapting the animations to the touch of the capacitive button.

I have both, my iPhone 7 Plus 128GB and my iPhone 8 Plus 64GB here and tested the speed side by side. Both run the latest version of iOS 11 and both have identical speed (including animation + home button).

Could it be that the 64GB drive performs slightly worse than its 128GB bigger brother and that's why they show equal speed? I've tried to replicate the problem showcased in this thread and couldn't. They're both blazingly fast, both super fluid, both on the same version of iOS, neither were "clean" installs to the latest version of iOS.

The only thing that does hiccup on both phones equally is the force touch animation.

who said they 'solved a bug'?? and what you say is what people hear. i would not assume you mean anything other than what you said. one should always choose one's words wisely...

seems this thread has established that some people are experiencing lag with their home button. and some people believe that what they assume about why that happens... is true. so, some of this thread is correct. progress!

Relax man, you seem a little upset.

Who should get angry are the users who suffer the bug.

On the other hand save your lessons for who cares.

If it offends you that I start a sentence with prural instead of singular, it is that you have no arguments and you try to go personal.

Unlike other people in this thread I do not have the imperative need to try to make people think the same as me, if you do not like my opinions, do not read me.

For my part I have only registered here to comment my experience not to get involved in a discussion, which at this point seems to be talking to a wall.

Good luck to iPhone 7 users and bye!

To be fair, it's hard to post in essentially any thread, let alone a fairly active 50+ page one, mentioning things that have been debated many times and not expect a discussion.

upset? no...disappointed. conspiracy theories are frustrating, but, really... it's not my problem.

how do i know what your opinion is until i read it? and, if you say 'we think this', you're not speaking for yourself. anyway, not a big deal. but i agree, it is like talking to a wall. so will also bow out (again, lol) from this thread...

Or you know...never had the problem to begin with.

Even one of the most vocal posters in every beta thread (almost always within the first 10 posts. Asking if it’s fixed) said today it was “fixed” for him in the 11.2 beta 1 thread. While others claim to still have it.

Proves not everyone experiences the “issue”. Even someone who has always been the first to ask and complain about it, now said he doesn’t have it.

That same poster comes back later and says it’s not fixed. He did that in the last Beta thread. Seems like a placebo effect.

When people are on iOS 11 for a couple days they forget how snappy that button was on iOS 10. It’s that simple. Also some people aren’t as picky to notice things like this which is why you have people say I have the lag and some people say no lag. Coming from iOS 10 to iOS 11 today you def notice the difference. Not as bad as it used to be on 11.0 but it’s def there

the argument really isn't whether the lag exists; enough people have posted here experiencing it, so we know it does. what hasn't been proved is that everyone is experiencing it. and, more importantly, there's no way to prove that the issue was created deliberately (the original premise of this thread).

and round and round we go. maybe time to let this thread, finally, deservedly, be put to rest.
