iPad Pro 12.9 2017 didn’t have any stuttering on iOS 10.
You didn’t notice, but it was there...I wish I didn’t notice but I do. Micro second micro-stutters. It’s no longer smooth as glass.

While I do not have that specific device I do have the Pro 10.5. It’s benchmark scores are slightly higher than the 12.9 (identical hardware but slightly lower resolution). Just like the 7 Benchmarks slightly better than the 7+....and so on.

There’s a guy on this forum who claims his iPhone 4 on iOS 7 works great, clearly there is a wide range of expectations.

My expectations are not above what Apple has done, unfortunately they are higher than what Apple is doing.

Thats true. The store I visited, there were like 2-4 people at the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus counter. There was a crowd around the X. Sadly I think the X is going to end up a runaway success and $1200 for the Plus next year is a given. I really dont understand why the 8 exists. We have to choose between a bezelled monstrosity and an overpriced smaller phone.
You don’t have to go anything of the sort. Nobody is holding a gun to your head at the Apple store. Just saying.

Android is also guilty of it so it’s not like there’s much of a choice here. Upgrades at the usual price point aren’t worth it at all.

On that i agree. In general iOS is starting to lose its shine ever since that redesign and it’s USP i.e smoothness. I find Android is ironically doing a much better job now on the performance category. Screen issues aside I played with the Pixel the other day and I really was reminded of old school iOS. Not a single dropped frame anywhere. Yes it was also smoother than the X. Android doesn’t have those fancy blur and effects which penalises older hardware which goes a long way towards keeping the OS smooth. There is also the fact that Apple won’t spend time optimising for older devices because they earn money when you buy new hardware. Google earns money when you use Android and doesn’t need you to upgrade every year or so. That makes a very big difference while optimising software.

The home button delay is a precise case in point. Apple doesn’t care about the legacy phones

It‘s 0.5 sec and it waits in case you double-press it for a smoother Multitasking animation...so that‘s not a bug if you ask me.

This lag/delay is happening with the sleep button on the iPhone X too

The iPhone 8 exists so that the price jump from SE to X isn't that huge. There needs to be smaller price increases to help with upselling.

That will be fixed on a priority basis. The home button delay wont be fixed.
Seems that you mentioned that the fact that the original/earlier radar related to that is still open shows that it's not necessarily just a done deal so far.

Maybe but the sleep button delay will be fixed on a priority basis because of iPhone X even though it’s less significant than the home button delay.

You mean YOUR home button delay, because my devices don’t “delay”. Btw, the iPhone 8 I didn’t an hour using was “buttery smooth” as well.

The sleep button delay isn’t there for some on the iPhone X but still there for many. I have played with an iPhone 8 in 2 different Apple stores and both had the delay.

This thread's arguments' claims that the home button delay is noticeable or not noticeable reminds me of "the dress": Some can see certain colors, and some can't. It's only until someone opens your eyes to the color you can't see that you do see it. Or Magic Eye paintings...

The only reason the home button lag isn't "there" for some is because you just can't perceive it: and that's okay. Those than can see it (including me) aren't wrong... and those of you that can't see it aren't "wrong", just incapable of noticing. (and count yourself blessed that little things don't bother you ;))

I notice little things, and they drive me nuts. (vertical grey lines on iphone screens, animation stutters if they exist, super super super tiny scratches on screens, scratches on aluminum, etc.)

Now lets all press our home buttons three times in solidarity. :D

So if I can’t see it, I’m just an old man now and I should use a cell phone with large buttons??:(

I used to work for the federal government and have had to deal with people who believe all manner of nutty conspiracy theory. This one ranks right up there near the top in just how ridiculous it is.

lol, no... Some people just aren't sensitive to things like .4 seconds delays from a home button press. Like an argument over the color pink or purple. Subjective experience to something that happens...

Though this thread is fun to read.... haha :D

Not Played with an iPhone X, but iPhone 8 didn’t seem to have the issue and iPhone 7 does not.

Exactly. Its very common in everyday life. When I got my second iPad Pro 2017, that had a bright pixel at the bottom which was only visible on white backgrounds, but it was very slight. No one in my family could see it. I even managed to capture a pic of it and post on this site. Its very much possible the delay is going unnoticed in a similar manner. When I get an electronic, I will be able to zoom in and find any flaw with the screen in just a few seconds. My iPad screen although near perfect, still isnt as evenly white as my 7 Plus. Just turn the tablet upside down and I can easily see some yellowish tint which I dont see when in proper orientation. We just cant help but have an eye for detail

Not Played with an iPhone X, but iPhone 8 didn’t seem to have the issue and iPhone 7 does not.
2 iPhone 8 at the store,my 7 Plus, thats in addition to the many iPhone 7s I have seen at work . Every single one without exception had the delay

Its not a conspiracy theory. We want our iPhones back to how they were pre iOS 11. If thats not the end result, the phones have been left on slower performace than before on purpose

I can’t believe this thread is still going.

Things are just not related enough when they've only been repeated for 60 pages.

This is a thread for those suffering from the issue. If you have nothing constructive to say, please leave.

“suffering” is such a dramatic word for something so insignficant. the amount of time some of you are spending complaining about this 1/4 second delay acting like your time is so valuable is just ironic.

Input lag doesn’t need 10 seconds to be an annoyance. 1/4 second input lag is a bug deal. Imagine if you were typing there was a delay of 0.5 seconds. How would that work out for you?
