That does sound bad! I find mine mood and stress dependant also, and it can be much worse at times. Stress can give me high blood pressure, and that really turns up the volume. I just had a workout and that turns the volume up as well. 18 months ago I went through a particularly bad patch with tinnitus. Does anything make yours worse/less excruciating?

The only clearly noticeable effect for me seems to be if I cry. Even the slightest shred of tears and the tinnitus volumes increases. It's quite weird, but seems the brain think my tinnitus sound should have more attention when I cry, which I do because of the tinnitus, hearing-loss/difference and hyperacusis. To me it's like having died a little, having one of the main senses tilted/damaged like that. Pretty ironic that the tinnitus get louder when I cry because of it…

Tinnitus is usually caused by an underlying condition, such as age-related hearing loss, an ear injury or a problem with the circulatory system. For many people, tinnitus improves with treatment of the underlying cause or with other treatments that reduce or mask the noise, making tinnitus less noticeable. Nov 30, 2022

Note that a number of medications can cause tinnitus. See pdf attached.
