Apple Intelligence leaves a lot to be desired and so does the new Siri. All I like about Apple Intelligence is the notifications summary and even those are weird sometimes.

I like the writing tools and the image cleanup. Like others in the AI space, Apple over-promised and under-delivered. Google is having some issues with Gemini too.

They sure are (Google).
I’m not sure Apple under-delivered. The basic features are there and I find quite useful. It’s the first layer and it will improve. The advanced features (Siri) I believe were not promised at launch but spoken about “coming”. I and everyone else knows Siri has a long way to go and has not been improved since inception. I hope they make it a priority but not at the expense of security. I don’t want a Google-like AI.

I like what I have seen so far, and agree on not wanting a Google-like AI. It's just all the negative nancys on these threads bringing me down.

I know but they announced something so they need to release it… otherwise it’s false advertising!
I understand that you’re frustrated with Apple’s decision, and from your posts, it sounds like you see this as a serious issue. While this setback is disappointing for many, it may not legally qualify as false advertising unless there’s clear evidence that aligns with past legal cases.

If any legal professionals here can outline a case against Apple and cite specific legal precedents, that could provide more clarity. Otherwise, the ongoing back-and-forth seems to be reinforcing the perspectives of those who feel personally wronged by the delay in Apple Intelligence features.

Can we sue apple? They said swift assist coming in 2024…

Meanwhile, at Microsoft…
Some very interesting parts of this article…
“Recently, I had the bizarre experience of standing in a Best Buy, watching a promotional sizzle reel for Copilot playing on one of their display PCs—the problem was that the video was advertising capabilities that Copilot no longer had, using a version of the app that no longer exists.”
“While the next version of the Copilot app that Microsoft is testing is once again a native app rather than a web app, it still doesn't appear to integrate with Windows as deeply as that initial version did. Microsoft's screenshots of the app show it giving directions for switching on dark mode rather than allowing users to toggle it automatically from within Copilot as they could originally. This app is rolling out to testers in the Windows Insider program.”

So I guess that old idea that onceApple is okay doing something other companies will follow isn’t dead yet

I'd like Apple to step away from the AI features and leave them to the third parties. I don't really need Apple to do it when there are good enough apps already on the market.
But third party apps won’t replace Siri…

I agree with you. My revolt is to stop buying apple. Not because AI sucks, which it definitely does. All they have focused on is AI and it's a catastrophe. Apple sucks because there is no progress, no reason to upgrade, no new features etc. Apple is just a mess of growing features they've let slide into disrepair and not working. It's embarrassing what apple has become.

Ummm……….sure.

I have been running the 18.4 betas and upgraded to the RC on Monday. My 16 Pro is still saying that it is downloading the AI software. I have had it on wifi while charging each day. I've restarted the phone a couple of times, and I turned off AI and turned it back on twice. Has anyone else run into this? It's been 3 full days now. 🤷🏽

The main thing I use it for is to identify dog breed and plant types that I don't know. Maybe I should just turn off the AI if its not going to finish updating.

What language/country?
How much free storage? (new AI seems to range from 7-9 GB and it won't delete the old stuff until it has the new stuff, I believe)

I'm in the US - English language. I have 61 GB of free storage.

The AI had completely installed until the last couple of updates. I can't think of anything that changed on my phone/setup since then, but the last couple of updates have had this issue. It's been 4 days now since I did the update.

This thread will seemingly be made a few dozen times before we actually see the new siri.

Apple Intelligence is definitely less impressive than Apple's ads would have you believe. That stinks, but there are definitely a lot of features that work the way they should.

As for updated Siri, it was said to be out "in the coming months" after the new year. There was no definite release date. And though they have publicly pushed back its availability, they aren't actually breaking any promises. Even the new release date is just a statement that it will come out in "the coming year" which the media is saying means 2026. It could mean that, or it could be more vague. Nobody knows.

It is funny to say in the same post that all things Apple Intelligence sucks, but I'm upset that one specific Apple Intelligence feature isn't coming out fast enough.

If 7 billion of people say they will switch to android… then maybe they will do something
I know its only a threat but switch to Android because of no AI version of Siri...no thanks, don't even use Siri that much anyway.

Couldn't really care less about about Siri to be honest, if Apple got rid i wouldn't miss it.

This is awfully generous towards Apple take on things, I have to say

"Under the law, claims in advertisements must be truthful, cannot be deceptive or unfair, and must be evidence-based."

source: https://www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/advertising-marketing

Read the footnote on this iPhone 16 ad: coming fall 2024. Some features...over the next year. Legally, they are committing to December 2025 at the latest. 2026 means this ad would be considered false advertising. Anybody who bought an iPhone 16 series based on this ad was deceived. They haven't broken the promise made in this ad as of today, but it looks like they will.

Even after upgrading to 18.4 RC2, the AI says its still downloading and can't be used. So for me the Apple AI definelty sucks. LOL

I've turn the AI on and off. Switched languages and region. Did numerous restarts. Changed the Siri voice. I've done everything except rest the whole phone, which I won't do. I don't want have to reset a bunch of stuff up afterwards. I'd rather go without Apple AI.

It works on my ipad and mac, but I used it most on the phone (when it worked previously).

I find Image Playground so embarrassing. If I had the chance, I would uninstall it from my iPhone immediately to use the processing power for other AI things (yes, I know, as long as I don't use Image Playground, it doesn't matter).

But what annoys me about Image Playground anyway?
Quite simply: The generated graphics all look like ****! It's the same infantile crap as the avatars in the Metaverse or the avatars from Microsoft back in the day, it looks cheap in the long run and just makes you want to puke.

The technical term for this seems to be the following: AI Slop
