So what would be Apple's philosophy behind coming out with a reduced bezel iPad ? does it make viewing any pleasurable experience ?
Higher resolution screen in a smaller and lighter body than the 12.9.
Yeah ! I understand resolution and weight but what about reduced bezels ? Does it and will it make the 9.7" screen look of yester years, a thing of the past ?
Reducing the bezels will reduce the overall size of the device, making it much easier to handle. I don't expect it to be that dramatic, but it will make the 9.7 look a little dated. I am assuming we will see some improvements to overall screen technology as well.
A lot of 9.7" iPad owners are gonna be unhappy with this, but having said that I do not think the current 9.7" viewing experience is any less IMHO. I am really looking forward for a side by side comparison video of the 9.7" iPP and the 10.5" iPP !
The reason they're doing it is because it makes sense. The 12.9" was based on the iPad Air and the 10.5" is based on the iPad mini (in terms of screen). They will also have the same resolution, and that's something that's cleaner for Apple to do in this case. The ppi will be 326, the same as the mini and on many iPhones. And based off my information it won't be as bezeless as originally predicted or as some people are saying now, but personally I don't mind the slight increase in size.A lot of 9.7" iPad owners are gonna be unhappy with this, but having said that I do not think the current 9.7" viewing experience is any less IMHO. I'd probably think of it more like a preference thing (e.g. 38mm vs 42mm Watch). I, for example, couldn't care less about the reduced bezels of the 10.5 and currently plan to buy a 12.9-inch model if an updated one is announced at WWDC. I think especially if you use it for things like drawing or handwritten notes, the 2.4" might make a big enough difference to justify its existence (esp. as 12.9 almost resembles an A4 page).
Anyone else see this on Apple.com. It does not appear to exist now that I can find, but a friend sent me this a couple days ago. Was this an accidental slip that this made it to live? Definitely seems to imply iPad Pro announcements at WWDC.

Technically it has bezels they just curved the display too hide them, granted they are small still.I am forced to think that reduced bezels or no bezels does have it's own charm though ! Anyone seen the Samsung Galaxy S8 that thing is something !
What would be interesting to see is if Apple does comes out with the 10.5" reduced bezel iPad Pro, will it continue to offer the thicker bezel 9.7" iPad (Not the Pro) which it just refreshed a couple of months back.
Of course it will. A 10.5" iPad Pro would be a replacement for the 9.7" iPad Pro, not a replacement for the 9.7" iPad.
Shouldn't be difficult to see what they're doing:
12.9" iPad Pro
10.5" iPad Pro
9.7" iPad
7.9" iPad (this is the biggest unknown I'd say)
Agreed. That seems to be a misconception that the 9.7 Pro will remain in the line up, which it likely won't With The 10.5 iPad likely replacing the 9.7 Pro. The 2017 iPad will stay in the line up because it serves as Apple's entry point for the iPad and is the most affordable without the Pro features.
And furthermore, the Mini 4 has plenty of life left for support, but does Apple continue to sell it is the big question.

That poor mini. My guess at this point is it gets the iPod touch treatment which is unfortunate.
All they need to do is add full cellular to the mini and it would be a great speaker phone. With bluetooth headsets or even full bluetooth handset, the mini could be both an iPad and a great cellular phone. It would not appeal to everyone, but it would be a great single portable device for communications. For infrequent phone users it might be ideal.
Nah, still there click on iPad on the Apple Store.
