Where did you buy it?
I just called Glendale, CA Apple store and they said no refunds/credits after 14 days. I purchased mine on July 9th. I mean its great that some people are getting their money back but it sucks that its so sporadic and that some people like me arent getting while people who purchased on the release day are. Does anyone have the Apple direct number that everyone has been calling to deal with the iphone issue? Thanks in advance

I say it's BS. please post snapshot of your confirmation email from Apple.

Grow the **** up. There are a few folks in this thread that had a similar experience to me. I don't have an email from Apple, and even if I did I wouldn't go to the trouble of taking a ****ing snapshot of it so I can prove to "tribe" on the internet that I really for reals got a refund.

I have my rep's name and extension, and my $200 refund. That's good enough for me. :)

I was kind of bummed about the price drop, but really I had figured that it would drop. So I guess not being able to get the 200 credit is ok considering I have had two months of bragging.

Just called and was told that the OFFICIAL Date of purchase must have been August 4, but to talk to a manager and they might be able to do something. My husband is on his way there now. I was going to buy a macbook pro, so here's hoping we get SOMETHING!!

well for those who are calling bs check out the post on the original thread https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/350348/
Well I guess I was just not lucky to be one of the owners to call and have a nice manager that would offer me $200 back. This experience WHOEVER's fault it is will leave a sour taste in my mouth that I will remember next time I think about purchasing an Apple product.

Where are these rather arbitrary august dates coming from as credit deadlines. 14 days has always been apple policy. Early august was a month ago. If we are talking early august, then we all "deserve" credits, but that isnt going to happen.

The whole thing sucks, but it is what it is.

Well, I didn't get an actual credit from Apple, but I've managed to get two things from them today.

First, they're e-mailing me an e-coupon good for $100 off on a purchase of $300 or more from the online Apple Store.

I'm not saying exactly what the second thing is because that's between me and the manager of my local Apple Store. Suffice to say it could be worth much more than $200.

It's still sad and stupid that Apple did what they did today. They managed to generate a huge amount of negative feelings among a large segment of their most devoted users.

i think it's crap that we had to pay 200 bucks more for a product that is only 2 months old. price breaks don't usually happen into a year into the product cycle. i hope i get some love from an apple manager.

Got both of my 8 gig phones credited, both purchased on release day.

Originally bought in OR (no tax), but this time they did a refund and reapply, so I had to pay tax as it was in WA. No big deal, happy to get the refund.

Also the warranty date is reset.

Are you for real? All cell phones follow this product lifecycle. Whats the big deal? Its like me buying a nokia n95 for 300 dollars and then complaining 2 months later as its come down in price and now free with a contract. This is how the mobile industry works. Get over it.

Sweet I'm going to the apple store! Good thing I live in Seattle. If it doesn't work in the Tukwila location I'm gonna hit up everyone till I get one.

What did you need to bring in to do this. Im calling apple right now and using this as my ammo! Ridiculous!!!

I think people are forgetting that the iphone is a product competing in the cell phone market with cell phones. It is not going to follow the same pricing lifecycle as an ipod if it is going to compete. People seem to be behaving very naively with regards to this.

If i bought an n95 on contract for 200 dollars, it is only normal for it to be reduced and prob be free on contract a couple of months after release (exactly what has happened in the uk) Fair play to apple they are just fitting in with the normal market trends.

well if i can get 200 bucks back without too much of a fight it doesn't hurt to put up the effort. yes it is the market trend but still hurts nonetheless.

Refund from AT&T ?

Not so much it seems............

AT&T is stating this as of NOW

any older then 14 days and you just out of luck

AT&T corp. has handed down if you bought it before aug 23 they will not refund or credit

611 told me to try and talk to the store I bought it at ( since I got it on 8/9) .. the store I bought it at told the same policy and to try AT&T corp again .....

I might try them again ....... but looks like it wont work out

UNLESS .. I return it under "buyers remorse" pay the restocking fee and turn around and buy a new one.. HOWEVER I then take the chance of losing my number. that is NOT an option for me

Its absolutely ridiculous that they offer you any refund whatsoever if its limited to that time frame. The product has been on the market for only 2 months!!!

How can they completely screw everyone who ponied up for them at launch?! This pathetic.

WTF!!

Exactly, and those are the ones that helped hype the initial sales to begin with. Cold, . . .

I just came in with my iphone and receipt and they did a credit. This was at the lynnwood store in washington (might be called alderwood store).

Someone on the main thread said the manager there was doing the returns. I called and verified this. Then I hightailed it up there and got a refund for both of my phones.

I would call up applecare and see if they can do anything. If they can't, have them call the lynnwood store and see why they are. Doesn't make sense for apple to selectively enforce the rules.

Good luck all!

Good luck. The assistant manager up in Tukwila is Ian and Henry. Think Henry is working until 7:00. But someone else helped me with it, they seemed aware of doing the returns.

Also I have never been to the Tukwila/Lynnwood/Alderwood store and I don't know anyone who works there. Just heard they were doing the returns and I jumped on it.

So it seems like if you bought it at an AT&T store prior to August, you are SOL. What a pile of crud this whole thing is. I hope Steve Jobs gets the big "C".

Just gof off the phone with hubby @ Apple Store

We originally bought 2 4G. I was ok with whatever they gave us. Hey, we wanted them early and we paid the price, but hey if Apple is giving something back we will take it.

With that said, we decided to exchange ours for 2 8G instead and we get $120 back in a gift card (after restocking fee and taxes-sounds like 200 with the fees and taxes). We could have gotten $200 back for each, but in the manager's words, "that would have been a bit trickier."

We bought our phones the day after iDay. We would have been standing in line, but we were at the beach.

So looks like after the restocking fees we paid $399 for our 8G, what they are selling for today. Not too bad.

Oops wanted to add, we purchased our phones at the AT&T store and this transaction occured at the Apple Store.

Thanks Kellen, that is really useful ;)

the original post is a no go.

The policy I confirmed with two reps is, 10 days from TODAY. not 8/1.

Ok, I'm gonna forgive you all the F#@$ and say sorry bout that. (Thanks to Kellen that posted a pic of his receipt)
