I just called customer service too. I got mine july 22 and the service guy said that the apple store would give me 200 dollars credit. My faith has been restored.

I talked to a guy and I am a guy. He said to just go into any apple store and talk to anyone. If they didnt help me and get me apple credit, he said to talk to the manager. (I bought the phone at an apple store). Very pleasant conversation overall. I have the feeling that if you are nice about it to them, they will be nice about it to you.
ooh i called 1800 694 7466

damn that customer service is now closed blah

Thats the number I've been trying all night. No go. "purchased" my phone on launch day, but didn't get a working satisfactory phone til 7/26. Which is 4 days after yours....this is BS.

Um... why were you charged POSITIVE sales tax on a negative subtotal? Seems like you should have been refunded more than $200, not less than $200.

Initially bought in OR that has no sales tax. So they refunded the 599, then bought the 399 + tax as I was in a state that charged sales tax.

no go in Tukwila. At least with the guy I went to. I should have spoke to a manager.

bluetooth headset

I just called in at midnight EST and after a bit of a runaround and having to ask to talk to the next person up they offered me a bluetooth headset and then an ipod shuffle. I told them I wouldnt use either of these but had been planning on purchasing the vibe earbuds. They sent me out a set of these and requested that I email their supervisor and let them know that I was taken care of which I said I would gladly do. So basically I spent $500 on a $400 dollar phone, but Im willing to take that kind of hit to be one of the first to have it.

If I were you, I would go to an apple store and talk to a manager. I would be SUPER nice and friendly cuz I know they have some flexiblity. I really feel that apple, in the end, wont screw its loyal customers.

Nice I waited on the phone for 30minutes and got just hung up on without talking to anyone! nice!

called...

I called 1800MYAPPLE not the iPhone number, didnt even have to wait... sorry...

press 1 for iPhone then 3 for tech support, talked to a girl she told me she was sorry and they might be doing a rebate and then I asked to talk to her supervisor and she told me hers wasnt there, so then I said its hard to believe that you guys are open and there is no supervisor there so she said she might be able to get one and I was on hold for 2 or 3 min and she got a guy that was very hesitant about doing anything and kept stating that it would be outside company policy, but I mentioned how many apple products I had and my plans for future ones that I would not be following through with and he got more cooperative. good luck! (sorry for run on sentence had a few shots of beam when I got home to sooth my anger)

Steve Job's email please.

I went through 6 replacements (8gb) since iDay and finally gave in and went with a 4gb because two "Geniuses" at the local Apple store said that there very little issues with the 4gb. Now, the 4gb model keeps crashing every other day, despite doing fresh installs and other methods Applecare has advised me to do. So now I have a discontinued model on my hands that is one crash away from being thrown against a brick wall.

Attica! Attica!

I called 1-800-MYAPPLE yesterday around 2PM PST and was issued a $150 credit to my card. I just called back and asked why I recieved $150 instead of others who are recieving $200 in store and was told that I wasn't eligible for price protection but they had decided to credit me the $150 as a one time act of good will. So if you get **** down maybe ask if they can credit you a smaller amount, they didn't hesitate to credit me.

I was just on with a supervisor at AT&T and he just got an email during our call that stated they can't do any refunds over the phone. They must refer any customer back to the point of sale and the local stores will only do refunds if you purchased within the last 14 days. So it sounds like they are getting their act together now with the standard SOL party line.

I got an 8 GB one on 7/15 from a store, I don't think I can get credit for it from the store however, the card I used has 60 day price protection. Here is the part I need help from you guys.

To get the $200 from the credit card co I need to provide them a printed ad such as newspaper ad or magazine ad or in store circular showing new price.

Does Apple have any of these ads? Any help would save me $200 :)

Thanks

I called apple just now and they transferred me to customer relations to some lady named terry and she basically said "new hardware comes out all the time and you are over the 14 day return policy so you are SOL" and then she says, if it makes you feel better, I can open a case number for you. And Im like WTF, no it would not make me feel better, I want my $200. And then she basically hung up after that. Rude.

Got both of my 8 gig phones credited, both purchased on release day. ...
Good for you kellen :)

A few minutes ago, I called 1-800-MYAPPLE as well as my local Apple Store - both basically told me (though very courteously) to take a hike. This selective crediting ticks me off even more - if they credit folks, they should do it consistently or not at all. Bunch of bastids.

I just called the Apple Store in the Mall of America (where my phone was purchased) and the person on the phone was very rude and hung up on me. I simply said I was calling about the price drop and he replied they only honored the 14-day period and I said "Well, I'm reading a New York Times article hear that says 'Apple executives insisted that the price cut had been planned long ago' so I feel like I've been deceived." and he said "You bought it two and a half months ago. It's technology." and hung up.

It's great to see the direction Apple customer service is going!
