I never told you what you can or can not say. You can say anything you want. Since this thread is about a specific video made by Linus, I was just wondering why you did not see that video, since you are reacting in this thread. But hey, say what you want! If you want to go off topic, go off topic, but don't be surprised if people ask you why you go off topic.
You seriously still don't get it?
OK, let me be kid friendly clear.
Linus says X.
I state why Linus cannot be trusted, at all in what he says regarding products. He might have technical knowledge, but his opinions coming out as expert objective advice have been in the past adjusted based on other influences.
Is that clearer?
Oh and btw, thanks for the threat of mod intervention there.

I think Apple needs to be questioned and taken to task for their questionable design decisions.

Not doing that leads to a company that tells you it is normal for your $1000+ device to bend.

Or that denies that a keyboard failure is a design flaw and charges hundreds to replace it because the entire computer is inexplicably glued together.

What strange examples...did you come up with those hypothetical scenarios on your own?

:D;)

OK since you choose to be condescending, let me make it clear.

This thread is about a video from Linus about the Mac Mini.

You state in this thread you have not seen any video's of Linus in a long time including this one. I wondered why you react while you have not seen the video in question. Your opinion is only based on the fact that you don't like Linus, but not on the video in question. I is simple logic to ask you about that.

If you choose to get all condescending about it or 'kid friendly clear' while you don't even know the person you are reacting to, there is no need to take this further.

Have a nice day.

EDIT:
Where did I make a threat about mod intervention? What on earth are you talking about? I stated something like 'if you go off topic, don't be surprised if people ask you why you go off topic.'. If you see that as a mod threat you must have a vivid imagination.

Goodbye. (done replying to you)

None of these are inaccuracies in the review. Just things you didn't like. #3 is the only thing you could say *might* be an inaccuracy and even that is such a trivial thing, it does not really change anything. #4 he did answer, he said most of his dislike (he said it's not his favorite) was due to not using it. And #6, he is saying the mini is not the machine it used to be, which it isn't. It is a sensationalist headline for sure, but not inaccurate.

It is a very accurate, honest, and rather positive review of the mini. I am really not sure why anyone is upset by this review.

They're all inaccuracies, no matter how anyone tries to justify them. The review a waste of time and meant to please his fanbase, which consists mostly of gamers and/or Apple haters.

Soldered in nvme m.2 is not an improvement. in fact the most expensive option of 2tb is not the gold standard for size as the new intel comes in a 4tb size. I won't bother saying that the toshiba is noisy and whines like a little bug. But max option of 2tb is restrictive and already out of date since intel has a 4tb available. I could say it is a downgrade from the 2014 since a 2014 allows for a 4tb sata ssd and a flash option. So it was not improved for internal storage. it was not improved if you wanted a 1 piece unit without extra parts. I like the look of it without a lot of stuff attached to it. So apple fails again. Every time I look at my dell 7060 micro and then look at my 2014 mini purchased 2 weeks ago I feel less attached to apple gear.
And I have
1 dead 2011 mac mini
3 good 2012 minis mid i5's
1 good 2014 mac mini base
1 good 2014 mac mini mid i5

And won't be buying the 2018
So will the 2019 mac mini bring replaceable ssd/nvme m.2 back?
"back"?
There never was a mac with m.2 nvme drive. all blades SSDs were proprietary and need adapters to work with standard m.2 or mSata form.

You guys just don't get it about the storage.
The only T2 mac with removable storage is the iMac Pro. And these are NOT standard blades, they're dumb NAND chips without controller, and after 1.5 years, there hasn't been a single aftermarket upgrade available for it.
Apple is clearly intending for T2 to stay.

The only way this would happen was adding an additional NVMe slot on the board.

I replaced SSD on my retina MacBook Pro 2012 once.
Upgraded from 256gb to 768gb. I would have done so upon buying, but was too expensive.
Now i just pick what I know will carry me to the next update and am content with it.

I personally feel upgradable RAM is a bigger deal than upgradable SSD.
Both would be nice, but here we are.

Never said that he was is error -- just that his coverage of Apple products is surface-level and essentially worthless on a good day. He's a clickbait machine that's all about the $$$. Furthermore, since he's not actually familiar with the basics of Macs, it's his team that does all the work and puts the words in his mouth to spout at the camera.

The guy is emblematic of so many unlikeable things about tech culture -- particularly on the PC side -- that it's a little nauseating to watch him IMO. He's popular for the same reason McDonald's is popular. How many views he gets, which people keep bringing up in this thread for some reason, is completely irrelevant.
IOW you don't like it but can't point to anything factually wrong with it.

What, specifically, was inaccurate in his review?

I'm glad reviewers hold Apple's feet to the fire. Before purchasing the Mac mini, I had to figure out if the issues were ones I could live with:
2. USB interferences - get a hub that other people have few issues with
10. Not enough USB ports - got a 7 port plug in hub

Which USB hub did you get?

He has over 7.6 million subscribers and this video alone has over 1.3 million views. He's incredibly knowledgeable and while he's a windows person, he gives credit where credit due. This was an overall positive review btw.

Except the headline?

Except the headline?

While I think the headline itself is dumb, sensationalistic, and definitely clickbait, if you watch the review the headline is actually neutral or positive. He is saying the Mac mini we once had is gone and what replaced it should probably be called "Mac" without the mini. He cites size, I/O, desktop processors, and speed as to why it should shed the mini moniker.

He never said they made a worse product, which is definitely what the headline implies and the reason he used it. Which is a shame, but hey, views count.

And #6, he is saying the mini is not the machine it used to be, which it isn't. It is a sensationalist headline for sure, but not inaccurate.

So do you think this is the best and most accurate headline that could be used?

So, every time a company changes the direction of a product, even if the product improves a lot, "killing the product" is a suitable headline?

How about: The new Mac Mini from Apple is a neat little machine. Or how Apple changed the direction of the Mac Mini, 4 years after their last release.

The main purpose of a headline is to accurately describe the content, so that you don't need to read or view the content.

Those wont gather so much clicks.
Clicks are money.

What else needs explaining? Why do we live in such a crappy world?
We made it this way.

The main purpose of a headline has always been to get you to read the rest. You are a "I read the headline but not the story" kind of guy I see. Headlines are attention grabbers. It has been that way since the first newspapers, and I am sure even before that.

I did not say it was worse. I was pointing out that this mini does not have the same mission as previous minis. As Linus said, Mac would be a better naming choice than Mac mini, since it isn't mini and now includes desktop chips and is a much more capable machine than the mini ever has been.

In fact, that is the whole point of this thread. People (not you) are reading the title of the review and think it is a negative review. When you watch the review, you see that Linus is saying the Mac mini of old is dead and in its place is a new Mac mini that is far more capable and probably more accurately not called "mini" which implies small and less capable.
Ah, gottcha. I think one of the original missions of the mini was for switchers. I’m a switcher and bringing my own monitor and saving money was one of several reasons for the switch.

You are correct, the mini was THE switcher machine. I think the time for switchers has passed. Computers are not what they used to be, and if someone is switching, they are likely moving into a laptop. So in that sense, it is smart to move the mini into a different market.
