Because I don't want to remove it. As for complaining I don't believe I am complaining. I merely mentioned it as an example of companies trying to push their cloud agenda. You've made a larger issue out of this than I did of the icon. In fact you seem to be starting to obsess about what I have or have not done.
Why don’t you want to remove it? I’m not obsessing. It’s a genuine question that you don’t seem to want to answer properly. Your inability to answer the question makes it seem like you are intentionally being difficult for no reason. I’m just genuinely baffled by you’d leave it there. Why would you leave ANY app on your Home Screen that you don’t use?

The fact you're baffled as to why I want to leave it alone indicates you're obsessing over it. As for not "answering properly" I do not answer to you and therefore I do not need to provide you a reason. It's my iPad and it doesn't affect you.

Is there some reason you want to act this way? It’s a pretty simple question. I’ll leave it alone I guess.

Winding this all the way back to the OP... You hated Catalina? what, why...Is it really that different compared to Big Sur? If you had said that some software or other wasn't supported by Catalina then fine, I mean check that out beforehand but to say you hated Catalina is ridiculous, sure there are things about every OS that can grind the gears but I have never wanted to roll back to a previous generation of OS... ever... anyway as you were, good luck... you'll hate Monterey too
Never said I hated Catalina. I said I HATED Big Sur - read the post . . .

IT IS APPLE'S FAULT! I used APPLE software (TIME MACHINE) to roll back to Catalina - Apple's OS that came installed on my computer. After rolling back to Catalina with TIME MACHINE the computer displayed the circle with a slash through it - indicating Catalina was NOT SUPPORTED on my 2019 Mac Pro that SHIPPED WITH CATALINA!

As far as I'm concerned I DID NOTHING WRONG. If rolling back to Catalina is "illegal/unsupported", then (1) during the install for Big Sur, that OS SHOULD HAVE DELETED all Time Machine Catalina backups since they are now considered UNSUPPORTED; OR (2), when entering Time Machine to roll back to Catalina, there should have been a HUGE ERROR MESSAGE that rolling back from Big Sur to Catalina would cause significant issues and potentially lock up my computer.

The Apple ID would not have come into play at all, PERIOD, END OF PROBLEM.

BTW, I never use my Apple ID. I BUY all of my software (Viewpoint, Davinci Resolve, Quark Xpress, TurboTax, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) directly from the vendors/retailers so I never have to enter an Apple ID.

When I bought my first MacBook Pro @ 2006 I started using iTunes on both my Mac and my windows PC (I've been using Windows since it first came out). I don't know how iTunes/Music works recently but back then if you installed songs onto a player with iTunes on the MacBook Pro, then tried adding songs to that player with the Windows version, you would get an error message - you could ONLY add songs with the same iTunes version - Mac or Windows, not both - incredibly STUPID! So I dumped iTunes forever.

When I set up my 2006 MacBook Pro setting up the Apple ID was simple, no credit card required. When I got my 2009 Mac Pro, I logged into my Apple ID only to be notified that I MUST enter a credit card, so I never finished the Apple ID setup, just closed out. I REFUSE to give my credit card info to Apple just so they can "store it" in their system. As I said I NEVER purchase anything through the Apple store so I see NO NEED for Apple to have my credit card info. (Yes, today you have the option of selecting "None" for the credit card info, but back in 2009 you DID NOT have that option.)

I also have 32 bit Adobe software and I REFUSE to pay ADOBE a monthly stipend so I can use their CS apps, which is the only reason I bought Quark Xpress - so I could use it on my 2019 Mac Pro where the Adobe apps aren't supported.

It's infuriating that I also have to upgrade the Mac OS to use a newer version of TurboTax. How is it that with Windows 10 (don't have Win 11) I DON'T have to upgrade to the latest OS to use TurboTax but I do for the Mac?

I also have a 2012 MacBook Pro because I refuse to be forced into using a system that's not upgradeable without BUYING A NEW COMPUTER - I just got a 2TB SSD for my 2012 MacBook Pro.

Actually it means that it cannot use the OS, not that it is unsupported:

I've never used Time Machine but, as a matter of principal, I generally don't use backups to restore an OS as they tend to result in an non bootable operating system.

I disagree with having it delete all backups. IMO no restoration process should delete separate backups.

I cut out the rest as there's a lot there and I didn't want to address every point in this response.

Given it appears the issue is not activation lock what are you waiting on them to do? If you're OK with losing all the information on the disk then you can boot into Recovery Mode and re-install the OS. Reinstalling the OS should solve the issue with not being able to use your Mac.
