just believe it could be more than just iphone. We have had the 'test' videos on itms and now its going to add the 'killer app' to itms uk. I believe BBC and apple have worked together in the past (joint developing bbc live output mixing systems) and the bbc studios being host to european journos for special conferences. why not have them at the apple store in regent street to give more buzz in europe?
As apple do not licence Fairplay, maybe the bbc working in conjunction with ITMS UK is the way they will truely deliver a cross platform solution to a majority of the market. There was a presentation from the bbc with the future of iplayer and it featured a video on an iphone so maybe today it will be a combination of both. iphone and bbc content for our devices...

Nice one. Any chance you will post after 4pm so we can see who is mingling?

I'll see what i can do... if something huge is going to be announced (16GB and 3G) I'm definetly going to pretend to be sick and run out the office and take a couple of more pics of the people that are going to be in line already.

more to come around 1pm for sure...

Partnerships....

I remember at that 'D' conference when Steve Jobs and Bill Gates were interviewed, one of the big things Steve thought apple could have done better over the years was to partner up with others. Obviously they have to do this in terms of the phone company but I wonder if there will be some 'Starbucks' style link up - or perhaps some more content for iTunes as mentioned above.

Don't mean to spoil the fun guys but the BBC will not be working with Apple. BBC shows will not be on iTunes in this country. The BBC is developing its own software for Macs, which will be released for beta at the end of this year. They may license the Fairplay DRM off Apple (if they'll let 'em) in their own software, but I can't see BBC on iTunes.

Then why would BBC in its future plans use the already iconic image of the iphone with bbc content on it if its that in bed with microsoft? there would be a brown zune instead. i see a deal with the companies to have content availible. The bbc in all its equal oppertunities and neutral standpoint have the ability to offer the same services to either side in the os wars. I dont expect the bbc to only offer people the option to stream to a web browser to stream there content on the move....

BBC isn't in bed with anyone. They are content providers looking to leverage their materials as effectively as possible.

God, the bunker-mentality in here is just appalling sometimes. Lay off the Kool-Aid.

Hat's off to you, Devil's Refugee. You're right about the not-released-until-November thing. That's really silly, but I guess it must be done with a phone... Maybe.

so the 8GB is going to be 269pounds???? isn't that like $535 bucks???!?!?!??!

eh, they have a 16 or so per cent VAT (value-added tax), meaning you pay exactly that for it, so that knocks about $80 off the actual cost of the device, making it about 65$ more expensive than it is here... which is not entirely surprising, and not as bad as usual for Apple, IMO.

something about partnering w/7500 wi-fi spots...
if it's free wi-fi (which, in the UK, is rare), then maybe EDGE not too bad afterall...

it's free wi-fi w/cloud as the provider.
