Well, I went to Adobe's site and downloaded the 30 day trial of CS2 to see if there will be any difference. [as a nice sidenote, my download from them was at 425-450 KB/sec--way to go Comcast!]

With CS2: 6 minutes, 50 seconds.

With 3.0.1 in Classic mode: 14 minutes, 57 seconds.

Needless to say, there is a difference!

Mine was almost the same.
6 minutes 54 seconds
G4 Digital Audio 533, CS2, 1.25 GB ram

PowerBook G4 1.67Ghz
2GB RAM
Photoshop CS

1 minute 59 seconds

Just breaks the 2 minute milestone!

2min 50sec for me

Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz 1Gig Ram

I had a lot of other programs in the background....

originally over 14 minutes with photoshop CS running on OS 10.2, G4 400mhz 40 gig 2mb cache drive, 832 megs of ram

NOW ... just over 2 minutes with 1.6 ghz powerlogix processor upgrade. 1.25 gigs of ram 120 gig 8 mb cache hard drive and OS 10.4

hell of an improvement for 400$

Wow, that IS an improvement! It's practically a whole new computer for less than a Mac mini.

39 seconds for my dual 2.5GHz 4.5GB RAM and Raptor boot drive running CS (ran it twice)

2:19 for my 1.33 GHz 12" pb with 1.25GB RAM CS2

I'm installing CS2 on my G5 now and we'll see how it does....

55 seconds on a Gateway E series Pentium 4 (w/hyperthreading) at my university computer lab...It won't allow me to access the system profiler so I don't know CPU speeds or ram...but considering there are over 100 of these, they can't be maxed out (considering they were bought in bulk). Amazing how a standard PC can perform so well compared to top of the line Mac systems...I hope my new iMac 2.0 Core Duo can fare well in this test (of course after a UB is released, I'm sure it will do horribly under rosetta at the moment). Has anyone done this test recently on a new Intel iMac? I'm curious to see just how slow this test would take.

I'm amazed - I just got my Intel iMac (2.0 GHz 1.5GB ram, 256vram) and ran the test - 49:02!!! I was expecting Photoshop CS to c-r-a-w-l but it's performing 2.5x better than my previous powerbook! I'm extremely impressed, I can't wait to see how it performs once Adobe releases UBs - I bought this system to be my pro mac for years to come, looks like it will be doing a superb job :)

CS2 on my intel imac - specs in sig - does it in 59. I might have to install my old copy of CS to see the time differences.

Wow, that's weird that mongoos's time is less than BB's when there's less ram.

g.

Powermac G5 DualCore 2.0
2.5GB Ram, 10.4.4, Nvidia 6600 256mb, yadda yadda

Photoshop CS 1 (which is basically photoshop 8).

44 secs

No idea why/how it matches some of the faster machines, but i'm happy with that... isn't cs2 even faster?

I think it's amazing my Intel machine is nearly matching monster G5 systems - Jobs was crazy when saying a pro wouldn't want to run CS on an Intel mac at the moment...

I was hoping they would dump a twin-core G5 on the iMacs.... :(

so i upgraded to cs2 on my desktop and it added 2 secs (from 39s to 41s) to the blur test! aww adobe's progress

i would revert back, at least on my pb, but i like perspective cloning way too much...

WELL BIG improvement on my dual powermac.

MDD 1.33 Dual Giga Processor
1.25 GB DDR ram

1minute 13 seconds!

almost a MINUTE faster than my 1.5ghz powerbook with 1.5 gigs of ram!

Then the processor at 1.47 dual- 1minute 7 seconds so 6 seconds faster.

So I got my extra gig of RAM today and what a difference it made!

Chuck1 w/ 512Mb: 1:21s
Chuck1 w/ 1.5Gb: 18s

Chuck2 w/ 512Mb: 7:02s
Chuck2 w/ 1.5Gb: 2:53s

now i can check it myself..)

Chuck2 w/ 1.5 Gb: 2:49s (Only with Safari running)
Chuck2 w/ 1.5 Gb: 3:45s (with Safari, Illustrator and Lynotype FontExplorer X running, Illustrator 'unexpectedly' quit after the action..)

iMac Core Duo, 20" 2GHz, 1.5Gb RAM, 128 Video RAM..
