It uses the two-fingered-drag to zoom in and out instead of the pinch. I find that a lot more usable and I hope it comes to the Mac app.

As much as I hate to say it, I really don't see the point in this? Google sadly have got the maps part sorted. I know it is Beta, but I presume Applke Maps itself have been going for a while, there is no cycle option in the U.K

I wish Apple/Google would work together to make an API so they share reports people leave (cops ahead, wreck ahead, stuff in the road, etc) That way it doesn't matter if you use Apple Maps, Google Maps, or Waze. All reports show on all 3.
There is an API. It's called "scraping". ;) JK

Guys, the web version of Apple maps works fine in FF, you just have to use DDG: https://duckduckgo.com/?hps=1&q=Apple+Headquarters&atb=v387-1&iaxm=maps&bbox=-122.00960636825391,37.335307600770996,-122.00847529678515,37.33440828057666

Technically Apple Maps web has been live on the web in all browsers for at least 5 years, just inside of DDG.

No firefox support yet

Apple Maps on the "web" does not support the Firefox browser. Are you kidding me......

Doesn't work on FF on Mac

no transit mode in this beta version 😠 Why ?

I guess this finally means when web designers use Apple Maps links on websites that they won't redirect to Google Maps on non Apple devices anymore? If this is the case then Apple really needs to up their game on Apple Maps business profiles, to let business owners claim their business and add info and business hours and such.
Business profiles have been available for some time, and they're more prominent on this web interface.

Other browsers = Chrome and Edge.

Lame 👎

Maps on the web is compatible with these web browsers

Depending on the device you use, Maps on the web works best on the latest versions of these browsers.

On your Mac or iPad

  • Safari
  • Chrome
On your Windows PC
  • Edge
  • Chrome

Poor Firefox. If they had just stuck to trying to make the best browser. They just can't stop shooting themselves in the foot with user hostile decisions.

Very cool to see it expand outside of DDG.

Odd that they skipped FF.

Also odd that it doesn’t work via the iPhone. Sure you can open maps app, but this can be used to sharing links and etc.

Too bad they're restricting Firefox from the beta of the standalone. It works fine through the API.

I've been getting Apple Maps via DuckDuckGo in my Firefox for Windows for a while, now. I think I noticed them switching from Mapquest a few months ago? I was glad to see Apple has a satellite view, because I kept having to pull up Google Maps when trying to scope out actual nearby parking, previously.

Yes there is. I’ve used it many times and Apple are usually quick to fix issues.

Can also report directions and suggest changes

My experience has been more mixed. A number of my corrections have been accepted, whilst others (including one where it directs you to go the wrong way around a roundabout) have been rejected multiple times.

Very frustrating when you are wanting to help a platform improve.

You're telling me a nearly $3 trillion company doesn't have the resources or employee talent to make their web-based map compatible with Firefox?
Perhaps the $3 trillion company makes careful choices about what to do, and in what order. That's probably why they are worth $3 trillion.

I completely failed out understand why this exists on Mac or PC, cellular enabled Mac is non-existent and cellular enabled PC is hard to find.

And it doesn't support mobile Chrome browser.

Why is doesn't support mobile phone? Is it because Google Maps is too good on Android?

Yeah, there's no Linux support either so I guess I'm out of luck?
