One can only hope.
I was reading on Reddit that Justin had a history with both Google and Apple going back some ten years or more.
Maybe Apple snatched him up for the Maps team as a consultant?
In what capacity? The way I see it, his contribution was in methodically highlighting Apple Maps changes as they were becoming available, but I do not recall him predicting something based on his observations. IMO, Apple Maps could do much better with:
a) worldwide real-time user feedback that could be fed into the database;
b) more incremental, but also more frequent updates;
c) the web-based map.
Unsure...he spoke at a Google Developers' Conference in 2011 regarding programming, and his name appears on multiple map-related patents first filed by Apple in 2015.“History” as in working for them or as a maven?
We just need to step up our game here.
I hope that's the case. Definitely enjoy reading his stuff! Plus, I was really looking forward to his write-up on the changes to Maps in iOS 15. Hopefully it's still coming!Hmm...his website has changed again.

Now he has a new message on top.
"Thank You! ?
This website began as a New Year’s resolution on January 1, 2010. Thank you for reading, sharing, and supporting it over the past twelve years."
It's not all "archives" now...a number of items are now back on top as "Recently Updated", and the bottom off the screen now once again has a place to enter an e-mail address to be notified of new essays and such.
Maybe the whole thing was just a 12-year anniversary thank you that we all took the wrong way?
He added pedestrian image collection to his article (I think he didnt have it before). Maybe he is reading this thread, who knows. ?I read his article as interesting as ever. We can therefore imagine that in the short or medium term, Denmark, Mexico , Brazil, Thailand and Turkey could be the next countries to receive an image collection. On the other hand, I think the list of countries that could receive the new map data is incomplete. In my opinion New Zealand and Singapore are more likely to be released before Switzerland, Austria, Taiwan, the Netherlands and Sweden because they are receiving a pedestrian image collection.
He definitely reads this thread. He used one of my old posts here as a basis for something he posted on his site some time back.He added pedestrian image collection to his article (I think he didnt have it before). Maybe he is reading this thread, who knows. ?
Haha you are very lucky to see the traffic lines so rarely! The good ole Midwest!Snowing all day…there is never any traffic around here, so nice to see Maps is reflecting the slower travel due to the weather.
Maps isn’t letting me do reports in Edmonton today. Tried it on 2 iPhones. The menu for it has no options.
It's very weird because I reported 2 speed traps on Saturday.Interesting as I was about to post a success with reporting an accident just outside of my neighborhood that was still on there when I drove past it a little later.
Working fine for me obviously.
I just checked and this still isn't working through the graphic interface, but I can report using Siri still. Weird.Maps isn’t letting me do reports in Edmonton today. Tried it on 2 iPhones. The menu for it has no options.
