Silicone cases are the only cases I ever get for my iPhones. They are comfortable and last a long time. Here’s hoping whatever they replace it with is as durable and the same price!

Agree. Except the 14 pro series silicone cases don’t appear to be as good quality as the previous generations. Always had silicone and never had any issues, other than a little wear and tear. However the 14 case doesn’t appear to have held up that well.

I’m not going to particularly miss the silicone cases because I did have several disintegrate on me. But I will miss the watch bands, especially the Nike ones with the holes in them. I guess this partnership with Nike, like the one with Hermès’, will be changed or ended.

Let us replace our own SSD and memory modules while you at it. Good move though. The replacing cases with eco-friendly ones, or maybe the EU is planning a new taxing scheme where producers of plastic need to pay a tax for every produced item. I think it is the latter.

Love the way they feel in my hand, but they don't slide in and out of a pocket as well as I'd like. But yep, hope they replace it with something at least as nice!

Same. Felt good in-hand but the pocket-drag (is that a thing?) was not ideal. Because of that, I switched to the thin cases Totallee offers. Perfect, tho a bit pricey for what they are. Awesome customer service.

I’d love to see Apple’s take on the super thin case. Pretty sure they’re leaving money on the table by not offering such.

I really like the fluoroelastomer solo loops but, I can't wear them because I always get an allergic reaction on my wrist. I hope they do replace with something else I can wear. Otherwise, I will stick with my tried and true sport loop.

I have my fair share of criticisms of Tim Cook’s reign as Apple CEO, but I respectfully disagree that this move qualifies as a grift. Everyone has been complaining for ages how stagnant Apple’s product lines have become. It is as good a time as any for a major refresh.

If their marketing can tie their moves into sustainability and animal welfare messaging, I can hardly blame them for that, either. It’s in keeping with the branding they’re trying to enhance.

Mmm, yes. The watch bands are pretty great. What makes you think they’ll terminate their partnership with Nike? A hunch? Some other bit of info? I ask because I always buy the Nike edition of Watch - solely for the exclusive Nike faces. I mean, since there is no price difference, why not? 😜

This product was never worth the asking price. Felt nice and comfy - for the first 2 weeks. And then the horror of watching your £50 case dis-integrate, tiny flake at a time...

Take it up with Apple, those cases have warranty as anything else - at least 1 year in the US and 2 years in the EU. I would not be watching my original Apple case chip away!

Silicone cases are my favorite type of case because they are the most comfortable in the hand and look clean, so this is kinda sad to see. That being said, I’ve been using a third party silicone case for my 14PM that still looks brand new after many months, looks identical to an Apple case, and only cost $18 compared to Apple’s $50 cases that start falling apart after a few months. Apple usually has more colors available than third party brands do though.

I would support the change for something that is better for the environment. I just hope the new cases feel as good in the hand as the silicone cases do and that quality third party versions will be available. I’m guessing it will be hard for third party brands to replicate though since it’s probably Apple‘s own proprietary material.

the nike editions watches were discontinued last year and now all the nike watch faces are available for all watches. they might still have the sport loops.

Generally, silicon cases from every manufacturer are hit or miss. The light colored versions attract grime like very few things. Silicon doesn’t develop a patina like the leather cases do. I’m hoping that there is a switch to more durable and sustainable materials.

Good. They were the worst cases known to human kind. Last time I used one, my phone slipped out of my hand, bounced out of the case on the pavement, and then got all dinged up.

not sure how that relates to the silicone case discontinuation. I for one was disappointed by how fragile the two silicone cases were that I purchased from Apple, and just from that I would expect them to either be redesigned or discontinued.
