You've had near zero issues because you were previously on iTunes Match. As far as I know, all the issues are people who are not previously on iTunes Match.
I thought I'd read quite a few posts from iTunes Match customers who'd had major issues?

I wondered if mine was ok because I'd deleted all my local match content from my Mac a few years ago. Everything was cloud based.

That could be why. Since you already had it all in the cloud and had nothing locally for it to mismatch and screw up. (And why I've heard most people with zero issues were already Match subscribers.)

In my case that's partially true. All my current library is perfectly fine after enabling Apple music. The problems came with music I added afterwards, and it's that some songs are matched like before but some other songs, apparently at random, are wrongly matched to Apple music songs.

Try deleting the mismatched songs from iTunes then re-add the songs that got mismatched but edit the track names first (add gibberish or anything to the track name so that it can't find a match) in iTunes before pressing the "add to iCloud music library" this should force it to upload instead of match (incorrectly) and once it's uploaded you should be able to just re-edit those track names back to normal.

So you've added songs since updating from ripped CDs? I'll take a look into that and see if anything happens when I try it.

Not from CDs. But songs bought in other stores or music purchased on iTunes by my partner that I've added to my library afterwards.

That's where my issue arises. I can do all that just fine, but there'll always be a copy of the song on my phone that I just can't delete. And then when I delete the gibberish one so that I have a fluidly running album, iTunes will tell me that the ones I deleted are missing from the library, despite being in my iPhone. Example:

Should mention, every track with the issue has been matched somehow to the greatest hits album that I never owned. When I go to make it available offline, the "downloading now" list artwork is all correct except for those songs, which is downloading from the GH. Done everything I can think of but just can't delete those ones.

Strange. When I had IML enabled on my Mac+phone (since turned off because it's too much effort having to redo everything that mismatches) when I was testing and figuring this all out, when I deleted things off iTunes my phone about 10-20 seconds later would reflect that change. And then re-adding in iTunes with bogus track names would fix it for me and upload the proper songs.

Remove the whole album and re add that album with with edited track names. (Sometimes I've found dealing with individual songs required a whole album to be re-added.) it's very finicky. (Edit all track names in the album to avoid anything.)

I just re-added the GH album to My Music. Then when I removed it, there were 20-odd songs scattered throughout all of the albums with the iCloud status as "removed from IML".

Yep, the early pages of this thread are full of people with Match who are having major issues. In fact, it was previously suspected that it was ONLY Match users that were affected.

I avoided iTunes for years because I hated it so much, the syncing ... everything. I can finally use iTunes to manage my music again. I'm glad iTunes is no longer dead weight on my macs.

I know a lot of people hate iTunes, but I've always loved the classic 'songs' view. Maybe because I grew up with it. I've barely used it recently because I've been switching to-and-fro between different streaming options. Now, when I want a new song or album, I can just add it to my iTunes library in moments.

I haven't explored all the many other options of Apple Music. I never listen to any kind of radio, though I will get round to exploring the whole thing. For now though, Apple Music does all I need it to. It's the iTunes I've always used, but now I can add to my library at will.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned...

I had an album art and playlist disaster when I turned on iCloud Music Library on my iPhone. Problem solved by turning it off. I will not be turning iCloud Music Library back on.

Ironically enough, I'm pretty sure that Apple Music was not designed for the most passionate music fans- outliers like us who already have large, well-curated music collections. We're just not within the target market. I love Apple Music's features, but I'm resigned to the fact that I'll never get full functionality, since I can't turn on iCloud Music Library.

It looks like I'll have to draw a bright line between my owned music and my streaming service. Time to look at Spotify again.

I was annoyed by the fact that you cant turn on iCloud music to work with already curated music libraries. I hope they fix these bugs. They really should've done a public alpha rather than have people waste their 3 months on Apple Music while Apple tries to pull it together. They should've released a finished product. It seems like lately Apple is playing catch up to a ton of things and then when released you have an Apple Maps like disaster over and over again....with the notable exception being Apple Pay which was flawlessly executed.

I don't think Apple U.S. release any software in the last 3 years that worked out of the box. Maps, iWork gutted, Pro software, Photos, and now Apple Music. I'm not sure what's going on in this company but this is ridiculous.

Can't you reset the library by simply deleting the songs?

I'm thinking about just starting over with a clean, blank library and going 100% streaming.

At this point that's what it comes down to. Why switch from Spotify then?

Why would I pay $120 and you don't even have 4 of my favorite artists? (Prince, Radiohead, The Beatles, Tool)

Apple Music does have Radiohead, actually. I added their 'Deep Cuts' playlist.

No on-demand streaming service has ever had Tool or The Beatles, AFAIK. You couldn't even buy Tool on iTunes for a long time, maybe still.

Prince, no idea.

Seems like the quality of software has gone down significantly lately. If Apple is going to take a longer time on something than everyone else at least get it right. Maybe their dev staff is stretched too thin and Apple needs to recruit more talent.
