Today, i could finally update to iTunes 12.2 and phew...everything is as before. I can still use my library and playlists and sync my iPhone.

Is there any way to use Apple Music without using iCloud music library? I managed to fix my library, but whenever I enable icloud library, everything goes back to being jumbled again.

I had iTunes Match at one point, so I'm sure that's why there's a problem, but if there isn't a fix, I guess I'll be using Spotify for a bit longer.

You can use Apple Music without turning on IML purely for streaming, but you won't be able to save playlists, add songs to "My Music" and/or listen to them offline. (Totally crazy, I know, as these are the most basic functions you can imagine when it comes to a music streaming service and they in no way depend on the IML matching.)

I am pretty sure though (or at least I hope) that Apple will backpedal soon and allow these basic functions WITHOUT being forced to turn on IMS. This is madness and even Apple won't get away with it.

That would be fantastic if they ever did that. It's not fun being forced into IML for a major feature.(and the only feature that makes AM appealing to me.) I prefer syncing through usb and keeping MY files how I organize them and not having things altered.

Perhaps make an option with IML to not match or upload at all, thus keeping everything you have as is PLUS being able to have things added from Apple Music sync through the cloud to all devices.

Here's what I want - completely separate AM and iML. In AM, when I click "Add to my music" for a song or album, it downloads it and adds it to my library for offline use as if I had purchased it from the iTunes Store. Then I can sync it over to my iDevices just like I would with any other song.

Exactly as you describe it - I think Apple will soon either offer the upload/matching function as an EXTRA toggle, but the main toogle for IML will simply enable to add AM playlists and listen to them offline (and synchronize those AM playlists over all devices WITHOUT being forced to synchronize/match your whole library) - or this will be already done by being logged in with your Apple ID which you use for Apple Music and additionally activating IML will do what it already does right now. (Matching your whole library in best case, destroying and deleting it in worst one.)

Staying the mess as it is right now, a lot of people will turn away from Apple Music - too much to ignore, Apple will have to fix this. At least this is my prediction. Finally a MacRumors front page article about this disaster to raise awareness and save iTunes libraries (after even Forbes Magazine had one about this topic) would help though - but I guess it's more important to explain how to customize the channels on your Apple TV...

They just need to allow you to clear out your old iCloud iTunes MAtch stuff and start over. Until then a lot of us won't be able to use Apple Music.

I've always been a match subscriber, but I was under the impression that after 30 days of your subscription lapsing that your iTunes Match account was purged. I guess I was wrong about that?

Yep, that would also be nice. Since Friday I have been turning on and off IML numerous times to see what works and what doesn't as far as getting things in the cloud to display/act properly. It's annoying having to go one by one and delete each artist to clear it out.

I did this manually by holding down option key when starting iTunes and starting a new library. Tuen iCloud Music library on and it will populate it with everything you have in the cloud. From there, you can start deleting songs. It takes a few tries turning IML on and off to make sure you delete everything in the cloud. I also suggest deleting in batches of 999 songs or less.

At this point, I still wouldn't turn on IML in your real library until Apple fixes the incorrect metadata/album artwork issues

Well since my repair that seemed to work I now see one issue that seems understandable and something I can try methodically to fix. I have some number of songs that I bought through itunes mostly and now they show as matched but say waiting for icloud download. They appear to be songs that are not available in apple music. But I bought them so how do I okay them from my devices? They are the greyed out songs. The 3 examples I can remember now are Bad Blood Feat Kendrick, Ay Vamos off Furious 7 and one song from a BB King and Stevie Ray live set that I ripped from disc. The other 2 I bought in the last 2 months from itunes. I’m going to the downloading them from the itunes store on my device and see if that works.

Right old mess. Aye. About to abort mission on this week long endeavor. I'm losing interest in music.

I really don't know why there isn't a way to select a single song to upload to the cloud. I want to try and sort this one album out, but I still have 2,600 songs waiting to be uploaded and I can't figure out a way to just push ONE to the cloud. Frustrating.

You may have to wait till it's done processing (should be a spinny wheel like thing around the top right in iTunes if it's still scanning your 2600 songs.) You can just do single songs once it's done. Anytime after the initial scan/match/upload when you add anything into iTunes from a local file it will have a dotted cloud icon and requires a right click and "add to iCloud music library"

Oh, that's what I mean. I have about 18,000 tracks in there, most have been matched but I still have 2,600 for them to physically upload. There are like 25 that are ineligible and it keeps trying to upload those and failing. It has to cycle through those before it even starts again on the 2,600. Whenever it finally does get past them, they're just taking like an hour per song. And then my WiFi will cut for a second and I can no longer see which track it's uploading and instead just says "uploading remaining tracks" so I dunno if it's actually doing anything lol. I've tried to close and re-open, when I do it has to go through the 25 ineligible tracks again. It's been "uploading" for like four days.

Have you checked to make sure those 25 files are not corrupt in any way? When I first got match it got hung up on some files and ever really finished causing all kinds of issues including the wifi dropping out. Come to find out those files were corrupt. Once i removed them and used a wired connection on my computer everything went just fine.

Yeah, I'm tempted to just delete them from my library for now and copy them back in when it's all done. Cause it's holding up the process entirely too much.

jsmith, I know this does not pertain to your issue, but CNET posted links to updated ibooks guides for iOS 8.4... including Apple music. Here is the CNET link that then links to the ibooks for Apple's various devices. This might help some people understand things better.
Apple's new iBooks aim to help you with iOS 8.4, Apple Music

IML will not accept anything lower than 96 bitrate or more than 200mb in size for each track.

I haven't even bothered looking at the ineligible yet. There's about 100 of them, ironically most were purchased from the iTunes Store and meet this criteria. I'd suggest maybe because they're protected and purchased from my old iTunes account, but it's only picking up certain songs on an album that's otherwise uploaded correctly (and authorised to play). But that's a story for another day lol.

I'm a bit of a fan of English Indie music. I uploaded my White Lies CD To Lose My Life to IML. The first four songs have been replaced by a hip hop duo called Da Muzicianz. (Needless to say i do not own any of their stuff).
Some tracks on Abba's Gold Greatest Hits album have been replaced with Euro Disco Tributes to the songs!
As others have said 95% of live music has been replaced with Studio versions. And some studio songs replaced with live versions.
Hundreds of examples of artwork wrong.

IML does not work very well.
