I wasn't told wrong. Contactless has a limit of £30, some stores still have not increased the limit but they should have. And if they are an Apple Pay partner then they shouldn't have a limit. The difference with Apple Pay is the fact it's a token being used for the transaction not your account details as is the case with normal contactless. It does require the retailer to have the most up to date card reader, software and firmware.That's strictly not true and you were told wrong. Apple Pay is no different then regular contactless in that respect. The limits vary. A small number of stores have no limit for Apple Pay like the Apple stores, Pret A Manger, Nandos, Waitrose and Marks & Spencers. Most other retailers impose a £20 or £30 limit.
