Huh? If pencil is magnetically attached to iPad, of course it is still at 100%. We are talking about battery drainage when it is unattached, but not being used. My pencil has drained over 40% in 2 days with zero usage, but not connected to iPad, either physically or via Bluetooth. My experiment consisted of leaving the pencil attached to ipad (12 inch) overnight. BT left on. Wifi off. 10 hours later both ipad and pencil were at 100%
I was out all day yesterday, so when I got up in the morning. I unplugged the iPad, removed the pencil, and headed out, leaving them both behind. When I went to bed last night I checked both the pencil and the iPad. The pencil was at 90% and the iPad was at 100%. I would have preferred the pencil still be at 100%, but I’ll take it at 90 after about 16 hours.
That's what I find so weird. That some of us, like myself, are experiencing massive pencil battery drain with zero usage, while others like yourself, have minimal depletion.

My old pencil lasted literally for weeks if I did not use it with my 9.7” iPad Pro. My new pencil has dropped more than 40% in 2 days with almost no usage.
My Pencil 2 arrive yesterday and the iPad Pro today. When I connected it to charge it was near dead. Typically Apple devices arrive with a substantial charge. Also, it has lost 4% just sitting there doing nothing at all on my desk in the past half hour or so.
How is everyone else's faring? Think I got a lemon?
Have any of you let the Pencil drain to 0% and only after this recharged to 100%?
Also have you unpaired completely (go to iOS settings) and tried to pair again?
Besides checking if it's the last firmware?
Maybe doing all that will help solve this battery drain.
Yup, like we said, definitely a problem.100% at 7:30 AM this morning and been using it throughout the day and now it’s 4 PM and it’s at 67%. Simple Internet, YouTube, email stuff.

This is the same Firmware I have. Anyone have a newer firmware? I lose about 30% of charge every 15 minutes if the Pencil is sitting idle. Seems to hold a better charge if I’m actually using it, it doesn’t drain as much. I just unpaired it, rebooted the iPad and repaired it. We’ll see how that goes I guess.Have unpaired the pencil, switched off Bluetooth in settings. Firmware version is

Definitely not sarcasm. With my old pencil the battery drain with similar usage experiences minimal drain. I still have it in my possession, and have used it constantly in the past few days on my old iPad, to compare battery drain between the two pencils.Sarcasm?
That's 8.5 hours of use and only 34% battery consumption (if my math serves me)...isn't the Apple Pencil supposed to get 12 hours of use on 1 charge?
I suggested draining the battery to 0% to see if this is a problem that would go away after a full discharge, suggesting it needs to be calibrated. After 0% recharge to 100%. If that doesn't solve then I suggest contacting Apple, for them to evaluate if this drain is normal.Have unpaired the pencil, switched off Bluetooth in settings. Firmware version is

Will do the battery drain, but I did contact Apple support today regarding the problem with my Pencil. Made it clear I wanted the issue on record. It's just too expensive, considerably more so than my old one, to have to repurchase in 6 months, if it conks out altogether.I suggested draining the battery to 0% to see if this is a problem that would go away after a full discharge, suggesting it needs to be calibrated. I exchanged mine the other night and it's behaving the same way but it seems the biggest drain is in the few hours after its idle and then it stops draining so fast. I left mine off the iPad yesterday for more than 8 hours and it went down to 94% and then overnight down to 90%. This seems like it might be normal behavior that is stays connected and broadcasting so you can immediately use it as soon as you pick it up but eventually it does go to sleep if it's idle for too long. You all need to contact Apple because I already saw posts complaining about this same issue: shorter battery life in the 1st gen Pencil. This isn’t normal and it really means your unit is defective. You see that I got a 10% waste in a single day, so 2 or 3 times that can’t be OK.
Mine seems to be newer...This is the same Firmware I have. Anyone have a newer firmware? I lose about 30% of charge every 15 minutes if the Pencil is sitting idle.
