Yet, Apple already has done that on the Xr.
To save money and distance it from the XS and XS Max that still have it. The XR is just slimmer down mid tier device aimed at the mainstream.

The same way you delete icons from the home screen but somehow it would replicate 3DTouch instead.
Agreed. I hope they get rid of the 3D Touch hardware and replace it with more battery capacity
"Somehow" doesn't mean a lot.

No it's not exactly the same, but real world functionality is arguably better, because people will actually use it. 3D Touch's implementation and inconsistency make it a horrible UI feature overall.False. Long press on the XR can not fully replace 3D Touch. The fact that you think it can shows that you don’t really grasp the full range of 3D Touch features. Long press is NOT the same thing.
There are rumours it will be deleted in the OLED models in 2019 too. The plan is to implement CGS in the OLED models in 2019.To save money and distance it from the XS and XS Max that still have it. The XR is just slimmer down mid tier device aimed at the mainstream.

Yes, they are my opinions, but one that is shared by many, many developers. Similarly, just because you think 3D Touch is better does not in any way make it fact.Well, you’re welcome to state your opinions as objective facts, but that doesn’t actually make them more than your opinions.
Yes, they are my opinions, but one that is shared by many, many developers.
You can get the same functionality without the actual 3D Touch technology though. Long press works just as well.
Obviously you've ignored my posts above. I never once even mentioned that guy.An ad populum fallacy isn’t much of a rebuttal.
And it’s also germaine to note that Apple has not eliminated 3D Touch. The fact that it isn’t included in the XR doesn’t mean that Apple is abandoning it, no matter what Nilay Patel told you to think about it.
You can do it on the iPads without 3D Touch so I’d imagine you can do it on the Xr.Why is the XR supposedly missing some of the 3DTouch features then? Moving the cursor using the haptic feedback on the keyboard is perhaps it’s most useful aspect.
This would be available on the Xr, and in fact on my 7 Plus with 3D Touch turned off.Why is the XR supposedly missing some of the 3DTouch features then? Moving the cursor using the haptic feedback on the keyboard is perhaps it’s most useful aspect.
Long press will bring up app deletion.

The shorter press brings up app deletion.Keep holding for the app shortcuts.

Don’t get your constant argument against a feature you can easily turn off if unwanted. Don’t be naive thinking Apple will pass on the savings. I’ve been an avid supporter of Apple (see signature), but it’s getting tiring making excuses for their greed. This would be available on the Xr, and in fact on my 7 Plus with 3D Touch turned off.
Try it and see. Turn off 3D Touch, pull up the keyboard, and then long press the space bar. Voila! You get trackpad keyboard cursor mode.
Given these posts, I get the impression some people haven't spent a lot of time on their iPhones with 3D Touch turned off. Yes, it's true that long press doesn't work for a lot of things this way, but that's because that's the way the OS is designed. Turning on 3D Touch actually turns off long press support. If you turn off 3D Touch, then you get long press support, albeit not in all situations where 3D Touch would be.
Uh, what? I don't have that problem at all. It’s truly dreadful on the iPad due to it being almost impossible to control and wildly highlights and deletes text. I find it unusable on iPad which is why I’ve been waiting for proper 3DTouch for years.
It would appear likely they've already passed on the savings with the Xr. The Xr and Max show the same amount of info on-screen, but the Max costs 56% more for the mid-storage-tier model.Don’t get your constant argument against a feature you can easily turn off if unwanted. Inelegant “solution.”
It kinda is when the developers are the ones responsible for making it happen. An ad populum fallacy isn’t much of a rebuttal.
