3D Touch to me is just a bad feature by design. It's one of those things that you never know if it will do anything or what you will get when pressing something other than say links. I had no idea that the quick change app feature even existed. It has incredibly low discoverability.
Try using 3D Touch on your most used App icons. You might find some handy shortcuts on them.

Yeah that’s one thing that’s deffo a backwards step without 3D Touch, highlighting a bunch of text is much easier using the keyboard as a trackpad, I hate fiddling around with those little blue markers!

How are you selecting text with 3D Touch?

I would grudgingly give it up if it was to enable under screen touch ID, I do like 3DT functionality but getting touch ID back would trump it...

if the customer fanbase majority reports no much use of 3d touch then apple might remove it.

removing 3d touch would remove a pressure sensitive layer which may allow a larger battery [if people do like that] but i sorta liek 3d touch especially in safari.

I switched off 3D Touch to see if I would miss it when I swap to an xr
Actually, I prefer to have it switched off!

Before there was a very fine line between a 3D Touch and a press and hold, sometimes, if I was walking for example, I’d try to press hold and 3D Touch by accident, especially in the podcast app.

I wouldn’t miss it if it died now

This is exactly my experience. I tried 3D Touch for about 3 months, and then finally shut it off.

Another way to do the text selection without 3D Touch is do to the long press on the space bar to drop the cursor in place, and then while holding down the press on the space bar, use another finger to touch the keyboard. This enables text highlighting without having to individually select the blue pins.

Interesting that they added that in iOS 12.

That might be another way, but to be fair, not nearly as convenient.

This year. There is a possibility it will be gone next from all new models.

This year the XR got CGS, and lost 3D Touch.

Next year the OLEDs will get CGS as well. Will they lose 3D Touch too?
What’s CGS?
