And we don't even know if it's an actual problem. People BS too much on this forum.

I would say if the estimates are correct, it is concerning. Maybe there is a small population where it isn't concerning but I think for many it would be considering comparable devices last days. I'm hoping it is better than they say but somehow I doubt it.

I'm not sure why you're spending so much time on this sub-forum then.

I'm certain there are many people who are interested and wish to enjoy discussing many topics on some NASA forums, but who at the as me time are not planning on buying a rocket or training to be an astronaught. :D

The name of the game is supply and demand. apple knows there are a lot of people who will buy the product for the price that apple sets. They know their consumers.

Remember this watch is meant for quick glances upon receiving notifications/quick look at info weather/health stats. Its not for constant screen on flicking through multiple apps, its not a replacement for your phone its just an Addition to it. If you plan to use this as your go to screen then you are probably getting it for all the wrong reasons.

I can easily see the watch lasting the 19+ hours specified cause its not meant to replace your phone. And I for one won't be using it as a replacement to my phone. As usual my phone will be in my hand when going to and from work for example. But in work meetings my phone stays in my pocket so a glance at my watch to see any important messages would be really ideal. And using my watch to change whats playin on my phone in the gym will be incredibly useful to me.

If they are going after the health segment, a popular use is sleep tracking and many of the current trackers/watches last a week (or more). So 19 hours for sleep tracking obviously won't cut it. Also, international traveling, 19 hours is pretty weak.

Well I personally don't do international traveling nor would i wear a watch to sleep so those factors don't apply to me.

See you gotta know why you're buying the device, what purpose does it have to benefit you Personally? If you cant think of any, don't buy it.

I didnt get an iPad til the iPad Air when I finally had a use for it, which was being my PC for when I want to lay in bed or those long periods in the toilet lol as I don't own a laptop.

But obviously Apple has been promoting the health aspects. Other products in the market have longer batteries and have the ability to track sleep. From reading various blogs and reviews of other devices, people seem to really like the sleep tracking ability of health devices.

350 is too high for me. I am instead looking into a garmin watch for around that same price. At least with the garmin I don't need to have my phone around it for functionality. I am/was excited for the apple watch. The battery doesn't bother me too much. I charge my phone and head phones everyday (and I don't think i would use it enough to drain it completely in a half a day anyway).

I'll reserve my final purchase to see some reviews from real people. My hope was to be able to go on a bike ride or run without my phone. Put a playlist on my watch and have it track me. But it appears the watch is more of an accessory to the phone and $350 seems a little steep... at least for now.

You can use for sleeping too. While sleeping you won't be checking the screen which is the biggest batt drain. Also the likely worst case scenario to use all day and wear at night would be:

Wake up put :apple:Watch on charge while you get ready for work.

Get home and put :apple:Watch on charge while you unwind.

In all likelihood you will be able to charge to 80% or 90% in about an hour or less.

There are better alternatives available. They have better configuration and lesser price. Try samsung smart watches they are really good and well under your budget

I have to say I agree with OP. $350 is just a little too high for me to justify getting something I see as a luxury item. If it was $200 or $250 even I maybe could justify the expenditure but spending $350 for something that is just an extension of my iPhone 6 is very hard for me too do. Hopefully future iterations will bring the price down somewhat.

Well, I headed over to take a look.
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/wearable-tech

You're right about price being lower. Can't really compare features without reading reviews and doing more investigation. But even assuming that these do everything the Apple watch does with the same ease of use, there is one thing that makes the Apple watch more attractive to me.

That is, the swappable bands. And even the cheapest Apple band, the sports band, looks more comfortable to wear than the Samsung watch. The leather and the metal bands look like real watch bands, and will probably be as comfortable to wear as real watches.

So the band is the number one reason why I'm ready to try the Apple watch, while I've been interested in other wearables, but never actually bought one.

Most smart watches take standard 22mm watchbands, which gives you nearly unlimited choice of materials and looks... from NATO straps to leather to rubber to metal link to metal mesh.

E.g. Gear 2, Gear Live, LG G and R, Moto 360, Pebble, Martian.

$350 is too darn expensive for a smartwatch?
When an iPad Mini sells for LESS
Why should a watch with little hours of battery and feature be sold for so high? Does Apple think it's fair to pretend to be like Starbucks or a company for the very rich? I understand profits and all but I mean the iPad Mini sells for less and it cost much more than to make such a tiny watch with a tiny LCD screen with no water protection or anything and bulky design too.

APPLE
WATCH
WAS
AT
MOST
$200
It would be a very fair deal. I hope Apple sees this. I am only criticizing it's cons because the high price. It's a great 1st gen watch and it would get better in the future but the most basic shouldn't cost that much. I can understand if it had premium quality like the sapphire and such but the basic should cost at the least $150-$200 :(

Someone else mentioned SAVE. The Watch was announced September 9. The $349 price for Apple Watch Sport was announced that day. If you saved $10-15 per week, you'd have enough by the time the watch hits the streets in April.

If $350 for a watch is too much for you then you probably aren't an avid watch collector. I don't have a huge watch collection but certainly have more watches than most and I find $350 to be a great price to get your beak wet. All my watches cost at least double that amount and all they do is tell time. This Apple Watch does so many more things and only priced at $350? Hell ya, give me 1 in each color.

I understand but it's not a very well made watch...Too bulky and has too many defects but yes it's a first gen. But when you think of it. There's too many disadvantages like the battery and screen and all sorts of problems.
Like a corvette will cost less than a Lamborghini but both are fasts cars but one of them has more features.
So if Apple watch cost more it should have more features than a Google Watch

You understand a lot about a product that you haven't seen in person or used.
