Disagree - I find them fun and use them all the time. I think it's the kind of whimsical feature Apple used to do all the time to surprise and delight users.Genmoji are a complete waste of time. Apple should be concentrating on real issues.
Those are all Apple Intelligence features that require Apple Silicon to run....Apple needs to be sued for this crap right here, why do you need a (Mac with Apple silicon) for Lock Screen Notifications, summaries and italicized text?
This update introduces Genmoji, powered by Apple Intelligence, and also includes other enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates for your Mac.
- Genmoji creation in Messages and other apps
- Calculator repeats the last mathematical operation when you click the equals sign again
- Easily manage settings for notification summaries from the Lock Screen (Mac with Apple silicon)
- Updated style for summarized notifications better distinguishes them from other notifications by using italicized text as well as the glyph (Mac with Apple silicon)
- Notification summaries for News & Entertainment apps are temporarily unavailable, and users who opt-in will see them again when the feature becomes available (Mac with Apple silicon)
Some features may not be available for all regions, or on all Apple devices.

I use at most around 10 different Emoji. I'm not into them so what is the clear benefit? I don't use a lot of the apps supplied with the OS such at News, Stickies, Stocks etc etc etc. My use case is probably very different from yours. vive la difference.People who aren't into Emoji are missing the clear benefit.
I get a lot of "Sorry can't do that", the list of restrictions for Genmoji must be thousands of pages long.Genmoji is one of those things that you use a few times, find it a little cute, then forget about it later.
It's hit the CDN now, there is an Intel updateNo updates yet for my 2020 Intel iMac, either they are prioritising the update rollout on the CDN for Apple Silicon or this one is being skipped for Intel I guess.
... As Genmoji proves itself over the next version or two, ... and we won't have that semi-annual "new emoji release!"
there won't be if build is same and in this case it is so you won't see itThere was no clue on either of my two M4 series Macs or M1 Mac with the MacOS RC 24D60 that an update was available to download.
I think Apple is lying about needing neural engines and machine learning accelerators for something so simple as Lock Screen notifications and italicized text, seems like simple script code to me.Those are all Apple Intelligence features that require Apple Silicon to run....
It's analyzing the content of the notification and (when it works) intelligently summarizing it. When it works well (which, to be clear isn't frequently) it's amazing and a lot more than displaying notifications and italicizing them. If you're suggesting Apple is lying about how that feature works and they aren't actually doing AI to do it, I am pretty sure that would be a massive news story.I think Apple is lying about needing neural engines and machine learning accelerators for something so simple as Lock Screen notifications and italicized text, seems like simple script code to me.
Based on your signature, your Mac is between five and six years old at this point - the idea that it wouldn't be able to run features that require AI shouldn't be surprising, especially considering the performance gains from Intel to Apple Silicon and the neural engine included on all M chips. While Apple is certainly guilty of locking out features to encourage upgrades, I don't think this is one of those instances.I’m no Master programmer by any means but i know a few things and this smells like planned obsolescence and capitalism greed by shoving new hardware in your face for diminishing returns.
I updated my iPhone on which I had had AI turned off and the iOS update did not enable it. Just updated one of my three macs and AI IS enabled by default. Is Apple Intelligence enabled by default like on iOS 18.3?
Likely they coded that AS machine language only. Yes make life harder for non AS Mac’s.Apple needs to be sued for this crap right here, why do you need a (Mac with Apple silicon) for Lock Screen Notifications, summaries and italicized text?
I am in the EU and—Yet another app not available to EU users, not happy :-(
Yes, both my Mac and iPhone have never had Apple Intelligence enabled. Updated both and they are both now enabled by default. Should be opt in. I've now got crap software on my Mac I can't get rid of :-/Is Apple Intelligence enabled by default like on iOS 18.3?
Because the Mac isn't a gatekeeper platform under the Digital Markets Act but iOS/iPadOS are gatekeeper platforms. Apple is taking longer releasing it presumably to ensure Apple Intelligence isn't going to run afoul of that law.I am in the EU and—
–and I can’t tell you whether Genmoji works, because I disabled Apple Intelligence and I hope it deletes its bloat, but if it doesn’t show up on your Mac, you probably need to enable it. Settings > Siri & Apple Intelligence. I don’t know why it’s fine on Macs, but not on iPhones.
There's an off switch in Settings for both Mac and iPhoneYes, both my Mac and iPhone have never had Apple Intelligence enabled. Updated both and they are both now enabled by default. Should be opt in. I've now got crap software on my Mac I can't get rid of :-/
