This actually seems like the rumors of the rebranding might be true, that there won't be a unibody Macbook, but just unibody Macbook Pros.

I doubted that at first, but it seems very possible. They're clearly treating the white plastic macbooks differently than the Alu macbooks. And there's already only very slight differences between the MB and MBP

i think that the aluminiums are getting spec bumps at WWDC. and the aluminium macbooks are turning into macbook pros .

anyone else think ?

We also have now an idea of when the next WhiteBook might come around. Remember that item on Best Buy's inventory? Well, same Model as the new whitebook. We have a in stock date and out of stock date which is November 1, 2009.

So next update might be along those lines.

pull. the. plug.

comeon apple.. kill the plastic!

Amen there!

Also "Build-to-order options up to 500 GB are now available"

They better add that to the other MacBooks, especially every MacBook Pro ASAP. I really need a 500GB HD as soon as I can afford to get a 17" MacBook Pro. I'd love to ditch my 320GB portable HD and have everything internal

Why? I bought my wife a plastic MPB a couple of years back and it's still a fabulous little machine. Great build quality, compact, great looking design and does exactly what she wants it to do. She loves it.

Just because it isn't what you want, doesn't mean there isn't a market for it.

Makes it even more of a good deal. Probably the best bang for buck mac in the entire lineup

Hopefully, this is just clearing out inventory for a big update. And if it is, when the plastic MacBooks are done, the low end unibody will drop in price to whatever the plastic one is. Though I will really miss Firewire.

This is the second quiet update to the low-end since the rest of the line when unibody. Strange, but nice. I really thought they'd let this one die eventually, but apparently they can't/won't price the unibody at $999 yet feel that they need a laptop at that price.

If only it had the multi-touch gestures of the unibodies...

Sweet. This is two updates to the plastic during the Aluminum run though. The aluminum update has to happen by WWDC if not sooner.

This seems like a great deal. I am almost tempted to get a new white mac.:D

Same number P7350 according to Wiki but I would think it is a P7450 but whether or not there is a difference besides overclocking I'm not sure.

There's no "overclocking" in the way that most people think of overclocking. This is designed to be a 2.13 GHz processor and yes it's most likely a P7450.

I think the polycarb models are going to be here for a while. I think the manufacturing and material costs are far higher for the Unibody models and Apple would be foolish to give up their sub-$1000 price point.

Bring Back Black!

I think they should rebrand the alu MB as a MBP, and reintroduce the black MacBook at the same price as the white.
