i think that the aluminiums are getting spec bumps at WWDC. and the aluminium macbooks are turning into macbook pros .
anyone else think ?
is the increased battery life to do with 10.5.7?
It's down to cost. The unibody manufacturing process doesn't come cheap.
Ahem, you're not wasting $1,000 if you specifically want a PC. There is much more value in the Windows world.

And I know you're going to bring up the "it still uses Windows" argument, but with Windows 7 coming out your point is moot. This MacBook I own is looking more lame each and every day. Good thing these have great resell value.![]()
Part of me thinks that they might introduce a 15" macbook (hopefully in black/CF), kill off the 2.0 Alu Macbook and just have the 2.4, they have been a few hints of apple wanting to make a few low end range changes.
It'll make the options a lot like the old ibook/powerbook range.
That depends on what value you place on excellent engineering, longevity of hardware, good sell-on fees, intuitive OS, etc. All qualities Apple is renowned for. That said, I'll not buy any laptop with glossy screens - no reflection on the product, only a personal preference.
Wednesday is the new Tuesday if Monday was a holiday.OMG - They did it on a non-Tuesday. Sacrilege ! Cats sleeping with dogs! My world is collapsing around me!
This is a much better bang for the buck:

After rebate, it's the same price as the Unibody Macbook, and you're getting a Quad-Core laptop CPU, 4GB ram (upgradable to 8GB for $300), ATI 4650 GPU with 1GB of dedicated video ram, and a 500GB hard drive.
If you're under 14 days you might want to take it back.LOL, and my sister just got her 2.0 GHz model last weekend...
Maybe their next tweak to the white MB will include an OLED panel and a BD drive.![]()
Its a heck of a nice machine for the money. Really solid value for what you get.

That's a nice $699 spec laptop, but I'll still sell lots of them anyway to the "all my cool friends have one" crowd, thanks to Apple marketing and the clever and entertaining Mac ads.![]()
Now I'm not saying Macs are amazing value for money or anything but that weighs 7.7 lbs and is 1.7" thick. Hardly a portable machine.
Not really. It's really a 699-799 machine in a 999 Apple box.
Since selling MacBooks with overclocked processors would set up Apple for massive liability, I would assume it is a different processor.![]()
I'd like to think OSX/Apple Support is worth the $200.00-$300.00 premium

I wonder what they did to increase the battery life. Any ideas?
