all of the white Macbooks are discolored in the palm area. Some are downright gross looking, and I use a USB keyboard/mouse, so I don't have to touch them.

I do the same as I don't take mine out so I don't really do much of touching its keyboard and trackpad.... and I plug a large monitor to it

The only weird discoloration I've gotten is that many of the keys get kinda dirty looking....like someone rubbed a pencil on them and along their edges.

Its not because of me....they just turned that way over time.

Hey

I found this on YouTube:

new tablet?

WOW...maybe i might be a little naive for passing hope through a video like that but how cool would that be. I for one am awaiting the arrival of this rumored tablet. For some reason an oversized ipod touch with a few more cool features is thouroughly appealing. Kind of a cool accessory to be seen with if you ask me.

Mexico has it as well, and I assume the rest of latin america.

For some reason the "pro" rebrand doesn't quite feel right to me. I don't believe it's going to happen.

Cool they all so have drop the cost for it in Australia by all most 51bucks. so its now AUD$1,599.00 and not AUD$1650

Nice update. I'm glad they're keeping the WhiteBook around, if for nothing else but to keep the uMB(P)'s in line as far as cost and features go. An :apple: notebook at this price (sub $1000) is very good for :apple:. If I was looking to buy, replace an :apple: notebook I would snatch this up in a heartbeat.

Also, I wonder if they are using the newer (better?) displays in this model as they are in the newer uMB's (not sure if this is true, just noticed others here commenting on the displays having better quality of late). I'm not opposed to glossy displays, but the glass on the uMB(P)'s is way overkill. Here's to hoping they offer a matte option on all models (sans WhiteBook) with the next refresh.

The unibody MB just has a LED backlight. Both are poor quality compared to the MBP.

Apple is probably going to eliminated the 2.0ghz Aluminum MacBooks and rename all the Aluminum MacBooks to MacBook Pro, and upgrade the cpu in all the MacBooks and give the low-end Aluminum MacBook an upgraded gpu. Now the White MacBook will still be called MacBook and they will release a netbook/tablet as the new low-end laptop. Just a guess... :D

Anyone knows if this white macbook has a mat or a unibody-like display (glossy)?

I seriously doubt they'll go with a matte display, the macbooks have been glossy since their launch AFAIK.

Although a macbook with firewire and matte display would be a dream come true, but dream none the less.

OK, so I bought a 2.0ghz model unibody MacBook yesterday. Now I am concerned that Apple is going to upgrade the 2.0 and 2.4 specs after what happened with the White MacBooks. I already ordered 4GB of DDR3 ram (came today) and a 400Gb Hard Drive.

Also since I am a student, I can get the free iTouch which I would sell on eBay since I already have an iPhone.

Now my question is: Should I keep the 2.0ghz Unibody and add the 400Gb hard Drive and 4Gb of ram, or return the 2.0 and get the 2.4 (they said they won't charge me the restocking fee) and keep the 250gb drive that comes with it and sell the itouch to off set the cost. Also I would get the 2.4 for $1499 ($100 off) compared to the $1249.99 for the 2.0

Thanks!

In terms of real-world performance, what is the benefit of 800 MHz RAM in comparison to 667 MHz RAM?
The difference is small but this may actually only be an unofficial to official acknowledgment that DDR2-800 runs at full speed on the Early 2009 White MacBook.

I would return the MacBook and wait a week. If a change is announced at WWDC, then you could get the new model and the iPod touch. If nothing new is announced, you could still get the old model and the touch.
