Don't see the appeal to this. They are stupid expensive, don't last nearly as long (and the crease looks terrible over time). Now maybe for something like an iPad this makes sense.

I would love to see a foldable design by Apple. I was within a mouse click away when the new 2024 crop arrived, but held off. If I were to pick up one today, I would likely go for the RAZR+. Something that could fit in my breast pocket or fully submerged into my pants pocket. I can’t count how many times I’ve left my phone in my car or elsewhere, simply because I don’t like caring around the slab.

I think Apple launching a flip style phone without a book style foldable option as well would be a mistake. While I realize flip style foldables are great for some, it doesn't have the advantage of being a regular phone while folded and a mini tablet when unfolded. I've owned a Z Flip 4 as a backup phone (for a short time) and I just didn't get the appeal for my use case. Having to flip your phone open all the time to do anything useful on it was a no-go for me. I'd rather have a regular slab phone. However, I have owned book style foldables since I got rid of my iPhone 12PM for a Z Fold 3 and I've never looked back. I currently own the OnePlus Open and it is my favorite phone of all time. I would be interested to see a book style foldable from Apple. Competition is always good.

It feels gimmicky, but I'm glad Apple develops products just to see if there is something there. If foldable take off, Apple with have something to offer. I'm skeptical it will ever be released though.

I'm all for a foldable iPhone.

Given the 17 Slim rumours, I'm guessing Apple will certainly be making any foldable iPhone to be as thin as possible.
What's not to like?
Certainly more interesting than the minor iPhone features and improvements we get every year.

Instant upgrade for me. If it wasn't for Android I'd love my Samsung Flip Z. Please bring it on. The visible fold isn't even a big deal.
What is your use case/need for this style? I just don’t really get it?

I can understand the other Samsung style that results in the 7.3” screen. But to me having a phone that is twice as thick but half as tall, I don’t see the great benefit?

finally! applecare+ is perfect for a product like this too.
AppleCare+ will always be a better deal for Apple than the average user. They wouldn’t offer it if it lost them money. If it is more prone to issues, the pricing/restrictions will be adjusted to continue making them money.
