Hey Timmy, just an idea… since it seems you’re out of ideas. Why not let Samsung build a foldable phone for you. They have overcome the difficulties and are able to build it with a great telephoto lens, offer more RAM and build quality is on par with Apple “standards”. Put an Apple logo on it and charge a few $ 100 extra for it. Timmy can count the beans and the diehard Apple fans have a folding iPhone. Something Apple isn’t able to make in the next foreseeable years. Win win for everyone 😜

Apple doesn’t need Samsung to build a foldable for them as it wouldn’t solve the one issue that prevents them from releasing one themselves. They don’t want a crease in the screen. Samsung hasn’t overcome that. They have improved but it still remains an issue.

AppleCare+ will always be a better deal for Apple than the average user. They wouldn’t offer it if it lost them money. If it is more prone to issues, the pricing/restrictions will be adjusted to continue making them money.

I don't want to think about how much I've spent on AppleCare+. I probably could have just bought a new phone. I kept the $10 a month plan when it ran out on my 13 Pro. But at this point it's probably wasting me money.

I just like knowing that I can always get this exact phone model back. But that's increasingly less appealing.

I'm all for a foldable iPhone.

Given the 17 Slim rumours, I'm guessing Apple will certainly be making any foldable iPhone to be as thin as possible.
What's not to like?
Certainly more interesting than the minor iPhone features and improvements we get every year.
Yup, choices are a wonderful thing

People are so against new form factors in these forums for some reason. I'd love to see what Apple can do with a foldable, even if I'm not likely to buy one.
We aren’t against it. They are terrible on android and if they can’t fix why we dislike them on android nobody wants them.

I’ve seen a small minority (even smaller than those begging for RCS and that number is incredibly low) of a minority asking for a foldable iPhone.

Foldable iPad sure. An iPhone now?

If it does come, I hope it goes the way of the mini and is dead within two generations because nearly no one on iOS is demanding this.

I’m not against it. I just don’t want them half assing it like the competition has with terrible screens that warp and crease. Let them all take the “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” approach and instead take the time to try and do it right from the start.

You think Apple won't? Apple's MO is waiting for tech to mature before working to include it in their products. How long did Apple wait to adopt OLED?

That's a lot of words to say "I don't like them."

A foldable would be good to test out on a iPad or iPad Mini but not a iPhone. Flip phones seems like old Tech with the Moto Razor flip phone being almost 30 years old. I would not want technology to go in reverse mode

Ah, I remember the days....my frist ORIGINAL RAZR phone... I was in love. It was a thing of beauty. I was on the Enterprise. I loved it... I get that it did "nothing" by today's standards, but what it was and still is, is better looking than any current phone.

I'd take one today that had essentially "WatchOS" running on it

Man I loved that phone

Such a satisfying feel/sound when flipping it open and closing it

Agreed. This is still one of my favorite phones of all time, hands down.

It's weird to me that folks are against an Apple foldable without even knowing what the offering might look like.

It's oddly a lot of the same folks who DO like the Vision Pro, which is ... Apple's somewhat unique take on an existing hardware/offering space (just like foldable phones)

See the irony?

Well… by the time Apple is able to “overcome” that, let’s compare the two phones. As Apple is using Samsung oled screens in their next iPhone I’m not confident Apple is being able to release it with less crease 😎

But personally, as somebody who misses the Mini form factor, I’d opt for a Flip for portability.
I don’t get that argument. A flip will be much thicker (folded) and also significantly heavier than the Mini.

This is an issue, I agree

The one benefit still, though, is a smaller overall footprint when folded (too wide but least shorter when folded)

But the increased weight and width of existing foldables makes it a lateral move (at best) from a Mini

It's why I don't yet have a foldable and still use my 13 Mini
