$999 here in aus, $1249 for the 15 and $1399 for the 16. Though because the 16's been doing so poorly we've had a couple sales of the 16 in the ~1250 price point.

This thing can hardly be called a budget phone; and the budget conscious market that it's supposeldy targetting will likely baulk at it.

Apple today shared a 12-minute video announcement for the iPhone 16e on its YouTube channel.

iPhone 16 features include a 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch for Face ID, an A18 chip that enables Apple Intelligence support, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, a USB-C port, an Action button, Apple's all-new C1 modem for 5G, and more.

Read our iPhone 16e announcement post for more details about the device, which is available to pre-order starting Friday at 5 a.m. Pacific Time.

This is seriously DREADFUL

When will Apple fans, like myself, feel insulted to be REPEATED more than once for features already well known on the iPhone for EVERY LAUNCH this employee does?

She's 3/4 for products she headlines that end up in failure:
12 mini, 13 mini, 14

I'm really confused who this device is even for. At $600 starting it's no longer an affordable device, and it's rather handicapped compared to the rest of the 16 series whilst not being much cheaper...
I think Tim is probably trying to get you to buy the 16. He's got a very large hole to fill with the $20b fallout over the Google browser deal.

Wireless charging too according to their video.
Qi wireless charging up to 7.5W
Unless Wireless charging have improved over the last few years, then it is not a big deal, as Wireless charging used to be slow and unreliable. i suppose it is okay if you charge at night. I have a magnetic charging cable for my Android phone and that is slower than a normal fixed cable,.

This phone doesn’t make sense. There doesn’t need to be an OLED screen for a budget phone so drive the price down there. Accessories should be supported across the entire line of iPhones so MagSafe NEEDS to be in there.
Offer it in two sizes, the current one and another the same size of the mini and then you’ve got the option for kids , those who prefer a smaller phone, people with the money to buy a second festival phone etc..

Saw the video. Surprised that Apple is making a video for a small launch. But it sure is more interesting than a press release announcing the new devices.
