Do you think the first benchmarks are correct?

In multi-core, its basically on par with an 8-core Intel CPU running at 60 watts. Single-core wise, it’s one of the fastest CPUs that money can currently buy. And it’s a 15W laptop with a single fan. Running without being connected to a charger.
On single core, I wouldn't say it's among fastest. Zen 3 parts are about 10% faster, even though they are slower in geekbench.

And why should running on battery make a difference? The battery has all the juice necessary to power the M1, GPU included. In fact, the battery provides more power (in Watts) than the power adapter alone.

Awesome!

Bit of a request... can you please run Unigine Heaven?

It should be representative of gaming and 3D performance under Rosetta 2.

Are you talking about zen 3 laptop single core? If yes what benchmark shows them as 10% faster than M1?

anyone here can do a gaming benchmark?
There's no native macOS game for the M1. Except perhaps Baldur's gate, but I'm not sure this version is publicly available.
There's always GFXBench, but it's rather basic.
I'm not sure if 3DMarks Wild Life can run on macOS.

Honestly don't know how to do that, hopefully someone can do it for you soon, never seen battery life this good on a Mac or any laptop for that matter, been using safari for 2 hours at 50 percent brightness, still at 100%

i think people ask OP to game under Rosetta2 to see the results...people around me say will test things like league of legends (its free), hearthstone that is an x86 and arm app, also free from what i hear

Unigine is old and uses openGL...
I would rather test recent Metal games from Feral, though they are not free.

Yeah, but that's the point. It can show us performance of the M1 GPU versus all of the Macs before it, and also GPUs from Windows laptops as well.

WarThunder is free and is a Metal (x86) game with a built-in benchmark tool.

Is there a app for rosetta 2 or does it run in the background?
When you launch x86 apps for the first time, Rosetta will automatically begin the translation process and then launch the app. The procedure is fully transparent, you don't have to worry about it.

yes, that is 3600 is overclocked to 4.3GHz 1.175v
Not talking about the 3600, but the 5XXX results reported in the comments (some of which may be overclocked though).
I know these are desktop CPUs, but they score less than the M1 in geekbench ST, so I'm not sure why they're better in cinebench single core. Possibly, that guy on twitter didn't test properly, but his results are on par with what we saw on the A12Z. I don't expect the M1 to do much more than 1500.

For this I'd rather run GFXBench. It's a native Metal apps that runs on many OSes.

Well, we have Unigine Heaven benchmark results for everything else...

And we already have GFXBench results for the M1 chip. So that's much less interesting to me.

CPUs are optimized for different workloads, there is no "one for all" architecture. In different workloads CPUs may have different relative performance and this is normal. CineBench is one of AMD's most performant area since the first generation of Zen CPUs, and Apple excels at Geekbench on mobile phones and tablets for years.
