Apple Silicon M1: benchmarks and review for Mac Mini, MacBook Air and MBP 13 M1 and comparison with other brands

My guess is that the review embargo lifts at 8AM PST tomorrow, although it may be 12PM to allow for more shipments to actually arrive at their destinations. I would assume that we will see a run on reviews and even podcasts over the next two days once the floodgates have been opened and the new Macs are in people's homes.

I'm curious to see what the numbers are so I can compare scores between Macbooks in the future, since I just ordered a M1 MBP 13" set to arrive in 2 weeks. My Mac Mini (late 2018) scored a 1062 for Single Core, and 5596 Multi Core.

I suppose it's up to the OS (scheduler). Each thread moves from core to core every fraction of a second.

well yeah, but if it farms out chunks of equal sized work and waits for all cores to come back, slow ones could affect the outcome (like SIMD). I don't know how the benchmark works, so this is just a curiosity on my part.

Not so sure about that. If you search on Geekbench for "Apple m1" you can see a slew of scores. Most are 8gb, and there were about two that were 16gb I saw, and there was no noticeable difference in score. (One of them actually scored lower) I'd love to be proven wrong though!

I don’t know what to make of scores fresh out of the box. The machine is still doing a lot of things in the background
