View attachment 1669310 highly doubt it’ll show up today but this is how mine is looking. Base silver MBA ordered day 1
You and I are travelling together. My cleared customs scan was at 10:06 a.m. though, so I'm a minute behind. I think we will have ours by tomorrow. We would have had KY arrival/departure scans if it was happening today. Where is yours headed? I'm in SoCal... in the San Fernando valley. Hopefully I'm hitching a ride to the Burbank airport today.

I'm sure I'll get an updated email/text from UPS about the delivery being scheduled for tomorrow.

UPS My Choice now shows my MacBook Air arrived in Louisville today and will deliver tomorrow between 9:30-1:30.

Flipping through the thread, it looks like the Canada-bound orders are in ‘clearance in progress’ while American (or other) orders are seeing different statuses. My guess is that the Canadian orders are going through a different clearance for customs in our country and given that they departed Alaska yesterday, it’s possible that our shipments have landed in a UPS hub (such as Hamilton), and are being cleared in Canada.
Yeah looks like it. My delivery date has been updated as well to Wednesday, November 18 EOD but same activity - We currently have the package. The receiver requested clearance by a non-UPS broker.

Yep, as expected. My UPS updates always lag. With my iPhone case it showed I was supposed to get it on 10/19 and it stayed that way until the next day and I wound up getting it on 10/20/20.

I'm happy for tomorrow. I had ZERO expectations of it arriving today. Woulda been sweet though!

Tomorrow is when the embargoes are lifted, so I always expected a hold. The good news is that CTO models seem to be shipping ahead of schedule.

Does anyone else have their MacBook Air shipping via FedEx? I have a shipment notification but the package has been in Shanghai since yesterday morning with no movement. And why FedEx when everyone else is UPS? Odd. Shipping to Charlottesville, VA.

I ordered 2 MacBook Airs. One a “base” and one a “custom” model. The “base” is shipping UPS and the “custom” is shipping FedEx. The base model is arriving Tuesday (UPS says tomorrow, but I’m sure Apple will put a hold on it). The custom model has an 11/24-11/27 window but I have a tracking Number (it’s still listed in Shanghai). FedEx has a “pending” delivery date, but it lists 11/20 as their best estimate based on the shipping service selected.

I'm thinking all the custom models must be shipping via FedEx. The one I ordered is a custom build and it is also shipping via FedEx. Currently in Shanghai with a delivery estimate of November 24th.

Question for those whose computer arrives tomorrow: how do y’all feel a the 8GB of ram?

my current laptop is 2016 2TB MBP, ordered a base MBA

I’m not a pro user at all, I’m in medical school and the most intensive thing I do is have 15 tabs open along with a flash card app and maybe a pdf, but what do y’all think? Why did you guys feel okay with 8GB of ram? I wanted to get 16 gb of ram but couldn’t justify the 20% increase in price, now having second thoughts

I bought the 8GB ram Macbook Pro and plan to be in medical school. I already have an iPad Air to take notes on so that I could always share it with my future macbook. That is most likely the reason I bought it.

MBP ordered within 10 minutes of store opening, 16gb/1tb/silver

I briefly saw an ETA on this page saying 11/18, but that ETA has now disappeared.

Fingers crossed that it arrives tomorrow!! If not, then Wednesday will be busy, cuz that's when I get my HomePod Minis!

To be frank most people are basing their memory requirements based on x86_64 PCs, which is a poor comparison to these ARM machines.

We know from web browsing on iPhone/iPad that even with 2gb, Safari can make many tabs feel comfortable.

I think Apple wouldn't be selling a machine with 8gb if that wasn't enough for most people.

I'm upgrading from a 2015 13" MBP with 8 gigs of RAM. Also in grad school and have about the same workload as you. I thought it best to try the 8 gig version first and we can always swap out for the more expensive one if we need to (as opposed to getting the 16 and it being overkill + spending the extra money). I think it's tough to say how it'll go considering the new chip and everything.

I don't think that's a fair comparison. MacOS and iOS/iPadOS are completely different.
