Driving past Chinook Centre today, I noticed that the outside awnings on the old Caban store (and future Apple store) have been taken down, and the inside gutted. The store is said to be opening in November and they appear to be on track.
You mean.. this November?

I'll get some good pictures sometime, maybe this weekend.

hmm I was in chinook last weekend and I took a stroll around and I couldn't find it's location, but then again after 20 mins or so in a mall I tend to zone out.

Ugh, when is Vancouver finally going to get one? I've been impatiently waiting for a quite a while, Googling every month or so to see if there's any more speculation on it. I'm not terribly impressed with any Vancouver dealers.

And I am not terribly impressed with Vancouver, plain and simple. :D

Hmm...

No Apple logo or construction wall. But the windows are covered in a semi-transparent stick-on curtain that obscures my view. Although, A source of mine recently told me he saw an Apple van at chinook, and now, I too have seen it, parked in the cargo bay. Too bad, I only got to see it from a distance.

No Way In Chin....'ell

Chinook Shopping Center get an Apple Store!!!!

What a Laugh, What a Dump! :p

I first walked that mall in the early '60s. It was an open air dump back then but over time Calgary (ians) made sure it even got worse... Put on a 'lid', built more weird add-ons to it than that mall the 'Blues Brothers' wrecked in their 1980's movie.:D

No way Apple has gone that crazy!!!!!

They should have made it in the tiny strip mall near my house. :p

They actually completed a renovation not too long ago that's made it look even nicer than before, and I didn't think it was too bad before either. But I was born in 1980, so I kinda missed the 60s.

Hey everyone, I was down at Chinook today and snapped these pics of where the Caban used to be. It seems like the perfect location for Apple although a little bit of a different design from your average Apple store with all the entrances. Much better than that other location as attached that is right next to The Bay. Anyway I can not wait till they open a store here, although I still have to say WestWorld is awesome!

Iggy :)

Isn't Calgary the "Texas of Canada" with lots of oil rigs? This is the market apple is looking to "tap" into!

Those look great. :) The location is better, it's more open and not as green. I'll updated the OP.

I just wish I had my SLR on me when I went down to Chinook, the pictures would have turned out way better. The 2MP camera on my w810i can only really take semi decent grain filled pictures. Oh well I will just have to remember to bring my camera next time I am heading down there. Hopefully Apple will have moved on some more work, assuming it is indeed the future location of an Apple Store, by the time I get down to Chinook next.

Iggy :)

Chances are the old Caban store will not be Apple, at least not if Apple wants to open before Christmas. Right now it looks like they will be opening a 'Spirit of Christmas' store there. Notice the green paint and the christmas trees....

Yup, Spirit of Christmas it is for the ex-Caban location. Which means that space won't be under construction for anything permanent until January at the earliest.

As for that space near The Bay, the location is crap and has been empty for ages (It was a Spirit of Christmas last season). Low traffic and practically zero visability.

November opening is obviously no longer a possibility.
