Oh probably... just let us have our moment :p

haha yeah....I actually think that the apple store was scheduled to go into chinook then apple either found out about the new mall or they are waiting for the chinook expansion one of the two. So we will have to wait for both of those things to finish. Or in the chinook case..start, before we will know. :(

So after Apple scours Calgary first for two years and comes up with nada, WEM swoops in and signs the deal first. No surprises there, it was only a matter of time.

I have heard that the Calgary Apple Store may be going downtown, in the Eaton Centre/TD Square mall. The place is undergoing a massive renovation that will see a new Holt Renfrew (3 times larger than the current store) and a new, continuous glass domed ceiling. There will be new stores for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Tiffany & Co. et al, and a whole whack of new streetfront retail, as well as a new Harry Rosen flagship store. In fact, I have heard that the Development Permit submitted to the City shows conceptual images of a 2-storey glass-fronted Apple store next to the new Holt Renfrew. Would be nice to put it downtown in an urban setting, just like the new Vancouver store...time will tell.

Apple Logo in Today's Herald on the front page!

In today's herald they announced a Chinook Centre expansion and announced who was confirmed to go in. Athough apple wans't mentioned, the artist conception of what the expansion was going to look like, had a pretty obvious apple log on one of the store fronts. No word on when it's opening, but then expansion is supposed to be completed in 2010.

I don't have a picture scanned, but here is the URL to the story.

how so? parking is bad i know....

Its really busy and far from where I live. :) I would love one downtown or in Market Mall.

Also, i think its in a ugly place in the city. The Glenmore expansion is helping tho.

I emailed chinook asking and this was there reply

Thank you for your inquiry regarding a possible Apple Store opening in
Chinook Centre.

Our leasing team is diligently in discussions about the possibility,
however there is currently no confirmation of Apple opening in Chinook
Centre at this time.

So it appears its not set in stone yet, but in the works.

Apple Store Hiring for Market Mall, Calgary store

Apple Store is now hiring for a Market Mall, Calgary store on their website...I suspect a Chinook Centre store might be planned when it's new wing opens - but thats not until 2010 - a long time for Apple to wait. So anyways, Apple comes to Market Mall first!

Yup, Bush is right!

Although it could be a mistake. Market Mall and Chinook have the same owners.

So, its looking like the Market Mall location will be opening sometime in September.

They interviewed for positions in the last couple of weeks, and their Geniuses are getting sent off for their month or so of training during August. Then they're back and ready to open the doors around the same time that school is back in.

Any word on the location in the mall itself?

Its not a terrible location in the mall; its got a lot of traffic there, that's for sure.

I just thought it would be a bit bigger (that's what *she* said). I guess they don't need anything massive; their displays are pretty simple, and don't require a huge amount of room or anything.

Just to let people know, there are crates in the parking lot by the Shoppers Drug Mart that have Apple written on them.
