I'm guessing no more 2012 refurbs. If you didn't buy one already then Game Over.

IMO there will be a last batch. Today (Jan 8) is the last day for holiday returns. Folks who bought a 2012 Mini in Nov can return until today. Estimated couple weeks refurbishment turnaround and you should still see a few 2012 Minis until approximately February.

That's a good theory, but I think it's pretty hard to predict. Apple has to keep a number held back for warranty exchanges, and so I believe the number that get sold directly affects the number that get held back. Based on their return and failure rates that only they know. And since there seems to be a run on 2012 models, that sold number is probably still increasing.

Good point.

That 1.4 2014 mini must be getting lonely sitting there in the refurb store all by itself.

It must feel like it's on the island of misfit toys.

I got pretty excited when I saw the "Mac mini" in black instead of gray, but upon clicking I learned the sad sad truth.

The 2012 Mini has HDMI out and also comes with a HDMI to DVI connector.

Aside from that, you might have to buy a separate adaptor.

You need to know your monitor resolution.

If you use the HDMI output, you will be limited to 1920 x 1200 resolution, and you would need a HDMI to DisplayPort cable.

If you use the Thunderbolt/MiniDisplayPort output, you can enjoy higher resolutions, and you would need a simple MiniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable (about $8 at Amazon).

Ok thanks just need to sort audio cable out now . Hope ive made the right decision with the 2012 i7 nearly went for 2014 i5.

I just yesterday hooked my new refurb 2012 i7 Mini up to a 27" Dell 2560 x 1440 monitor using that exact cable and it works great. I also tried the HDMI-HDMI cable, but the screen characters look pretty grainy when the monitor attempts to fill the screen at non-native resolution.

I just use the attached speakers on the monitor for audio using the headphone jack on the Mini. When using the HDMI input, the audio appears to come over the HDMI interface. I don't know about your audio system ... those colors sound like a discreet video signal inputs for a DVD player. The audio inputs are usually L and R phono jacks, or a optical link cable.

Enjoy your new Mac Mini ...

Its a creative labs soundblaster six speaker system.

You will need a surround sound decoder to get full use of the SoundBlaster. It appears to be designed to work with a companion PC card which has the front, rear, center, and subwoofer outputs.

However, you can use the "green" input to simply get front left and right from the headphone jack on the Mini with a mini-phone-plug patch cable.

Which sort of adapter or patch cable would i need then ?. How do others set there sound system up on the mini ?. My monitor has speakers i think maybe i could just use them.

I can pretty much guarantee that your front channel SoundBlaster speakers will sound better than any monitor's built in speakers! :)

I haven't done any surround sound from the Mac Mini, so others will have to give their advice there. You will probably be looking for Toslink optical 5.1 cable compatibility, and you will need a Toslink cable.

You might get some ideas from these articles on Google:
