I'm deciding between visa and tilt (forget the other one). Logic says go-vesa, as maybe you want somenkinda flexibility, and I already have a nice vesa stand that cost about $70 from Amazon. A lot of you use the arms. I tried that years ago (Ergotron?), and it's great but I don't need that presently. Tilt is clean, and easy.

I would definitely choose VESA every time for the flexibility, UNLESS the monitor is sitting on a desk, will frequently be seen from the back and you care how it looks.

Does anyone notice audio glitches when connecting an audio device to their Apple Studio Display?

I have an RME Babyface Pro (audio device) connected to a Dell D6000. If I connect the D6000 directly to the M1 Max MacBook Pro 16, the Babyface Pro works perfect. However, if I connect the D6000 to the Apple Studio Display, which then connects to the laptop, the audio occasionally glitches, which is annoying.
I havent noticed this with my Focusrite / SM7dB.

Generically replying to everyone who replied to my Studio Display buzzing issue. I did try moving the Studio Display around a few outlets in my apartment and heard the same issue. I've purchased an LG 32GS95UE-B and LG DualUp as my replacement monitors so far. The 32GS95UE-B does hum a little but not noticeably so while the DualUp is silent. The recommendation for an isolation transformer is very interesting, and I'll give it a shot. As it stands, the buzzing from the Studio Displays were so maddening that I couldn't work from home anymore and had to get different monitors. I'm really bummed out to stop using the Studio Displays though. I hope to convince the apartment to get an electrician out here, but I'm doubtful.

Going to post this again…
I’m curious to know if the buzzing sound changes in any way when the brightness or contrast is raised or lowered over the entire range. Try brightness first.

Any good sales on the VESA Studio Display out there, need to get a new monitor and looking into the Apple displays.

Not significantly from what I can tell. I've also confirmed an isolation transformer won't fix the issue. We're working to get an electrician out to investigate our apartment, but overall still pretty disappointed in the Studio Display's performance here.

I bought the nanotexture studio display.

I thought a lot before making my choice, because I know I'm going to experience some loss of quality in contrast and definition: in my workstation I have a window exactly behind my back:

and two sources of artificial light (one above and one on the left side).
The display surprised me positively: I don't have a standard next to it to compare it but it shows very, very well: no patina or "dark" effect, nice crisp text, zero reflections. I paid 250 euro more for this configuration and it seems reasonable to me.
The unboxing was quite satisfactory: the monitor is protected by two layers, a classic one, like in the Imacs, an additional one, glued to the edges.
There is the "special" cleaning cloth specific for this glass.

The brightness is excellent.
As for the color rendering ... finally the true tone! I consider Apple products excellent in terms of calibration and, for this reason, I have always tried to get the same calibration on the external monitors as my iphone 12 pro max ... without ever succeeding.
The studio display is finally identical (and remember that the phone is an OLED).
Camera: not as bad as I read, not amazing but usable. It's comfortable.
CRAZY audio, the best part of this monitor: you have to hear it live to realize it.

Ultimately I am satisfied with the purchase and I am satisfied with the performance of the nanotextures (I was very scared about that!)

How are you liking this now? Thanks for the video. That's very helpful.

Ive tried two now rfurb units now and both are different than my unit...I'm going to try a new one next..

So, any word at all if they're ever going to update these with new panels and webcams? I know they love to really sweat their display lines for as long as possible, but now that every other product in their lineup has a better webcam, I thought that might have been the thing that made them do at least a refresh of some sort.

It's also pretty disappointing that it's one size only and macOS font scaling is crap. At least sort one or the other to give us some more options, ideally sort both please.

Have two VESA plain screen units attached to M1Utra MacStudio (128 GB and 8TB SSD) since they came out with no issues. Added a nano screen with tilt base unit for the summer place with Mac Mini M4 Pro (64 GB & 8TB SSD) with no issues. Adding another nano model at home for Mac Mini M4 Pro (64 GB & 2 TB SSD) working as file server.

No complaints with these displays from Apple,

I have been using the ASD for nearly three years now and I just have to say no other monitor comes close. This display ruins EVERY other display I have to use at work when I'm in the office. I ADORE the ASD and it is by far one of the best purchases I've ever made.
If you don't mind the buzzing noise.

I still think they're the best all round display for Macs, especially if you want something that's retina-like, but I'll be honest, if macOS handled font scaling like Windows does, I'd have ditched them a long time ago.

There's nothing comes close to them in terms of brightness, ppi, quality of speakers and having a built-in webcam is really handy for video calls.

Those are the reasons I'm still sticking with ASD. Could not agree more on the scaling debate. If macOS had Windows like (non-integer) scaling I would never consider ASD in the first place.

I got one within 3 months of release and haven't heard a hint of sound from it.
Consider yourself lucky. Not all ASD owners can say that.

Never have heard a buzzing noise in my Studio Displays. Wonder if there is a power issue or cabling issue between display and computer. Also what happens if there are no other devices connected to the monitor, just one cable plugged into monitor?
Believe me, I've tried everything. I also got my first ASD replaced with a new one which has the exact same issue. Then demanded the internal PSU and motherboard replacement. Same issue again. Even the repairman noticed the same. The thing just couldn't be resolved. In the end I gave up and just accepted the non-Apple quality experience. I'm not buying anything with internal PSU again. On the other hand, the mid-tier M4 iMac I got for my parents is dead silent, has an external PSU and the quality of the screen is practically the same.

The place I come from has a saying that every school (particulary the school of life) cost you something.

no buzzing here, have had atleast 10 of these since they came out for personal and production. only issues ive every encountered were with a software issue as it has its own Apple chip but that was fixed. some people will have problems some dont, but using these in sound sensitive rooms, not a peep.
