If I was still in elm park, I'd have been right up in that partaaaaaaay

Ah, a fellow Essex native! I love Upminster, perfect place for an Apple themed party ;) Still annoyed at TNT, there service and in particular communication has been pretty awful.

After all this, I bet I'll miss them tomorrow.

LOL - apparently it means either that TNT control have no idea where exactly it is but they do have it *somewhere*, OR that apple haven't given it to them yet...

Oh dear...

That means you've got the wrong number xD

So I phoned TNT at 6pm to find out where the hell my :apple:TV was.

"The driver tried to deliver it earlier but could not find your house", was their response.

Brilliant. My house is not on any Sat Nav so instead of reading road signs the driver just decided it didn't exist.

Well they said they could re-deliver it tomorrow (no chance) or I could pick it up at the Depot (You bet your ass) any time after 8.30am.

Only a few hours to go until I finally get my hands on this thing.

It better be worth the wait.

I hear your pain. TNT once told me on the phone my house doesn't exist. Not, that they couldn't find it but it wasn't there! I said, thats funny as I'm standing in it now. Peed me off tbh.

Finally arrived at the Northampton Hub so guess it will be out for delivery in the next day or two which is typical as I can't be around to receive it!!

Good news about the hardware, it's sorted out the sluggish menus and scrolling around is much more responsive. Also when the device goes to sleep, it actually stays off which is something the old model couldn't seem to do as it would always switch itself back on. But the biggest bonus so far is the reliability, its been on and off a load of times tonight and every time it's come straight back to the menu I left it at. No Apple logo or blank screen or reboot etc.

Positive start although still don't like the changes to the top level menus.

Mine was delivered today at 9:30 in Colchester, I'd imagine those still waiting wil receive theirs tomorrow.

It's great for what it is, and for me it is primarily a music streamer (at £30 more expensive than the Airport Express).

Streaming video from the iPad is surprisingly high quality.

It's a TV - the name gives it away - been streaming video all night from 2 different computers using my iPhone to control it. Music & photos & Internet stuff works sure but it is a TV.

How are you streaming from the iPad?

Working perfectly here. Had to do a restore for the streaming to work perfectly though

Streaming is great now both HD and SD :) will post more once I have had a play :)

anyone know what the minimum required braodband speed is ? my wireless connection is only around 2mb. will this be good enough to stream video from my imac to apple tv?

Your broadband speed is irrelevant for streaming from your imac. It is all on your internal network.

Got mine last night

Picked it up from the Crawley TNT depot.

Had a play last night. Comparing it with the older model.

It's playback seems smoother.

Issue is that it doesn't cache/sync stuff like the older one, which we all knew.

The other issue is the sorting of TV shows isn't nested like the older model, and I cannot seem to work how if it's possible to do that.

I'm not at home now, so can't check this still works on ATV2, but if you right click on a movie/tv show in iTunes, select 'Get Info' then go to the 'Video' tab you can enter whatever text you wish the selected movies/tv shows to be grouped under.

thanks for that keith. so should i just presume my internal network will handle it?

also, will 2mb bbrand speed be good enough for renting straight to apple tv?

Unless it's quite old your internal network should handle video streaming quite easily. If you have more than one Mac then you can do a simple test by just copying a file from one computer to another. I use a Time Machine as my router and copying a folder containing 10-15 hours of video takes between an hour or two, so you can tell the speed is more than there and the network should easily be able to handle a couple of streams at a time.

As for your broadband speed for rentals, I'm no expert, but I think my speed is similar and I often stream live sport with no problems. I suspect that the iTunes streams may be higher quality though, so perhaps you may get a buffering pause every now and then. I'm not sure on that though.
