Still says 'Movie Rentals - Coming Soon' on the page I can see, but your right there was something that said 'Free Update - Coming Soon' and I can't see that anywhere.

I can still see this though

Yes, I saw the "coming soon" note on top of the movie rentals, but I was referring to the "free software update - coming soon" link that is now gone

WTF is Apple doing? Why won't they just talk about when it's going to be released instead of such vague messages like 'one or two weeks'. Apple is dissapointing me more and more every week...

i'm off to bed. i hate apple at the moment. When i wake up I will be hoping to download a new software update, see how cool it is and fall back in love with apple. Nighty night.

Wow! I wish I had all my previous computers --- You're getting me all nostalgic!

The website no longer has "coming soon", however, when I went to manually update my iTV it said my software is up to date. I checked the version and confirmed it was still at 1.1.

Did anyone get the update yet or did Apple just get tired of saying "coming soon" on their website?

Still says coming soon for me ....

By the way, I am mainly interested in this update PRAYING TO GOD that they fix the high bit-rate "pausing" issue that has really killed this for me. I am making the assumption (or hoping illogically) that they fix it based on the need for the HD content to have a higher bit-rate than the crap they sell now.

I'm in. Where do I send the check?

There was a "coming soon" message on the right side of the website that is no longer there. Yes, the graphic still has "coming soon", however, that is seperate.

Anyway, no update yet. Tried again to manually perform the update.

Save yourself the trouble of wearing out the buttons on your appletv remote...

8 months is a long time to wait for an update.

June 20th 2007 - Apple gave us YouTube.
Feb 12th 2008 - Apple gives us everything we dreamed?

Rant: I want main&high profile hardware h264 acceleration in Quicktime for Geforce7 upwards now dammit. Charge me $20 if you want!

Because in corporate application development most of the time they simply just dont know if theyll make a date. It seems pretty obvious they are working out some bugs and simply do not know. They might have an internal specific target date, but they wouldnt dare release it in case they could not fix the bugs in time.

Mind you majority of customers dont sit around like everyone here (including me) checking for updates daily. If I was a betting man, I would say most of users with Apple TV's probaly dont even know theres an update coming, just like most Iphone users dont know of updates coming untill they are there. So really missing a 4-6 week window on an update is only damaging to use here on macrumors. :)

Two weeeks from their announcement would be tomorrow, not today.

It'll be released when it is ready to be released...

Oh yes. I was thinking of the original 2 weeks, followed by the additional 1-2 weeks. I'd forgotten the extra 24 hours after it was first due where nobody had a clue why it hadn't been released.

Is this different. This is on the right hand side of the apple tv web page. It does not say coming soon. Did it before?
