i agree 10.5.2 was needed for the upgrade.
lets hope it gets here soon!

i presented an appletv to my mom in a way that focused around rentals, and after that she bought one! she is getting a bit angry with me about the update not being out yet :(

what time do the people at the apple cap work until, 6pm. if its 4:30, then 1.5hrs left to get atv update out, come on apple. Please

my friend at apple loved this post. he's usually there well past midnight each night.... apple is not a government agency, thankfully....er emmm, despite taking this long for the update to come out!! :)

Has anyone noticed that itunes has changed its terms and conditions? I tried to download a free single and it asked me to agree to the new terms and conditions first. Is this maybe preparation for the update?

Update not coming for a few more weeks.

I just read in a weekly trade magazine (Home Media Magazine, Page 12) that the update isn't coming out until the END of February. Sorry. I don't know how reliable the info is, but it's a weekly trade magazine we get here at work. Like Variety.

Well...

The article was really only about the Apple TV. The updated article dated 2/10 is in TODAYS magazine. They just got us all amped for the release... only to make us buy ATV's and check Macrumors every day... haha. I do it.

That date your referring to is todays date as listed on top of every page on that site. The article has a posted date that has not been updated, and while it is AppleTV heavy in content the article has several mistakes in it - one being that all rentals are delayed.

I know we are all excited - and Im hoping it comes out this week - but in true Apple fashion it will be released when they are ready (around a week or two in Apple world may well mean 3 weeks LOL :) )

I'm going to be in the states on thursday, and i'm thinking of picking one up. I know that if I buy an american gift card, i can set up an american account with a fake address without a credit card, but i was just wondering how the apple tv knows which itunes account to sync to. do you enter the account info yourself, or does it get it from itunes?

Not today!

It is almost 6PM PST AND NO UPDATES...

Maybe tomorrow, Maybe.

Has anyone herd of them releasing an update this late in the day?

reason for topic?>

what is the reason for starting the topic if the update is not out people? Wait for the update and make sure before you start posting information which is not true.
Apple is doing its best to perfect the software update as much as possible so you people who like to complain dont make excuses about bugs! Let them do their thing and in the mean time its the week how many of you actually watch movies during the week? Wait till the end of the week it will be out for sure. But let apple do its thing. There is a reason for eveything

I do not intent to be rude in any way or form

I bought an Apple TV on Saturday and it didn't ship today! Maybe that means I'm getting an already updated one!

Or more likely that just means that it didn't ship today...:(

I also bought mine on Saturday and it shipped yesterday and should arrive today. We'll see.

I think now 10.5.2 is out Take2 will be here very soon.

Well, its officially Tuesday in California.

I hope the first thing thing I see tomorrow isn't "Your Apple TV is up to Date."

why would take 2 require 10.5.2? A lot of it is standalone features like the direct rental.

Also, what does that mean for Tiger owners like me? Do I still have an update available? (haven't checked)

I'm also hoping for an itunes update to improve the 'finding' of appleTV on the network

I doubt it'll require 10.5.2, but Apple looks to be rolling out the updates, so we should expect Take2 soon.

Well Steve, here we are again. 2 weeks later. Same situation.

You've got a little less than a day to make good on your promise.

Gonna pull through with the update or be branded a liar twice in 2 weeks?

Tuesday morning - Steve:

"Despite our best efforts, :apple:TV: Take 2 is not quite finished yet. We're working hard on it and should have the update in about one or two weeks... or three, maybe seven... heck.. give us until the Spring. We'll have it then for sure... Maybe."

... I would drop a fit and go to Cupertino myself to help them get this out the door. :p

Pardon my asking but what would the Apple store being down have anything to do with :apple:TV: Take2's update becoming available?

If anything, I'd expect that when the store comes up, we'll see a new MacBook Pro which is something that encroaches on the store.
