There is no word yet on what the Zeiss prescription inserts will cost, but Apple says that vision correction accessories will be sold separately.

Glasses wearers will need a valid prescription to get the inserts, and not all prescriptions will be supported, so there will be some limitations that might prevent some people from using the headset.
So much for Apple being known for their accessibility…

I got a pretty high astigmatism and prescription. If it’s just from -x to +x that won’t cut it. Contacts would work I guess But I don’t like to wear them for an extended time.
You would be surprised the kinds of lens that VR/AR prescription sites like VROptician produce. Admittedly lenses with high SPH and CYL do get rather pricy… the pair for my Quest 2 cost about $160… but it can be done. (and honestly that would be a drop in the bucket after spending 3.5k on a headset…)

This device just got even more expensive and impractical than it already was.

Don't get me wrong, it looks pretty and it will probably work really well.

I just don't see this ever fitting into my life regardless of price.
Agreed! Imagine driving to work with Apple Vision on… sheeeeeesh!

I never saw a 3D-TV in action, but I understand why it was a failed product. Maybe it looked terrific, but the amount and variety of programming available for it never attained a critical mass sufficient to generate consumer interest, and so the entire enterprise collapsed. I'm afraid the the same thing is likely to torpedo Apple's VR effort. The very underwhelming amount and variety of programming available on on Apple TV does not inspire confidence that Apple understands this critical issue. The big question about this product is what you are going to be able to do with it once you pay that huge price for it? Is it going to be interesting and varied enough to keep you engaged or is it destined to become one of those products which wind up at the bottom of your sock drawer?

While it may end up working out, the Disney and ESPN simulations were a total joke.

ESPN would have to purchase rights from leagues to get AR/VR like what was demonstrated. Also expect a crap ton of advertising in that setup, someone’s gotta pay for it.

$500 USD for the set? More?
That’s about how much Zeiss lenses are alone. Factor in Apple tax and the magnetic bits and custom size and coatings and you’re probably looking at $1000-1500.
