So now i have to get another power adapter to charge my watch +$20...
Now if only Apple would let us trade-in our old adapters.

If you don't have any USB-C ports to plug this new charging cable into, these come to $3.75 each after applying the $1.00 off coupon on Amazon:

Now I've just spend almost $2K on a phone and watch...and I have nothing to charge them with! Why can't Apple at least offer the adapters at a reduced price when ordered along side their products? Greedy buggers!

Do the math: At $19 per adapter (that Apple no longer puts in the box) it profits in extra $19 million for every million devices sold.
Ok, maybe this is your first Apple Watch and you don't have a charger yet. But you seriously don't have a lightening cable and brick already? Also, you're math is quite unrealistic. Your $19 million figure assumes that everyone who buys an iPhone also buys a new $19 adapter, which is certainly not the case. Even then you'd have to subtract out their cost on the charger.

I wonder if accessory makers will need to update their 3-in-1 docks for the fast charging or if they can already do it if they are fed by a USBC cable? I was looking at the Belkin MagSafe one that Apple sells.

Comes with an USB-C cable when most watch owners probably have USB-A power adapters.

What do you base this assumption on? Isn't USB-C fairly common at this point? Plus, there are super cheap solutions like I posted in post 26.

I'm sorry, but spending $2,000 and then complaining about $38 is hard to take seriously, especially when you know this going into the purchase (or should know it, since Apple has a "What's in the box" at the bottom of every product purchase page).

It's been 6-1/2 years since Apple released the 2015 MacBook with a single USB-C port. Quit bellyaching, pry open your wallet and buy something with a USB-C port on it. Good grief, 6-1/2 damn years.
Only because there is a new device every year doesn't mean that old ones are not usable any more.

There are A LOT of people who own iOS devices but don’t own a Mac.
Windows PCs have been shipping with USB-C almost as long. FWIW, the complaint seems to be centered around charging adapters and there are several good adapters that have both USB-A and USB-C. The point is that USB-C is not something that just dropped in our laps, we’ve been living with it for a good half decade plus and after people griping that Apple was STILL shipping USB-A cables, now Apple is shipping USB-C cables and people are still bitching over coughing up a bit of change for an adapter.

Is there anything that distinguishes the ordinary USB-C Apple Watch Charger with the new Fast-Charging capable version announced at this recent event? They seem to be visually identical, but are either version going by different names?

We’re talking about a cable and/or a charging adapter, not a device. If you have an old USB-A cable and charger, they should still work just fine with the new iPhone 13 and WATCH series 7, but you don’t get the benefits of faster charging, etc. Otherwise, USB-C has been around long enough that it’s time to cough up some cash for a USB-C adapter. Why do people on this forum, who are supposed to be so progressive and tech savvy, have to be told to buy a new adapter? It’s literally the cheapest purchase they’ll have to make, considering how much Apple’s devices cost.

Why doesn’t the fast charger work with series 6 to fast change both the 6 and 7 use the same cpu and chip

Good grief are you on Tims Xmas card list? Buying a 200 dollar device and expecting people to pay MORE just to charge it? If you mainly purchased iPhones and watches you likely don’t have a usb c adapter.

That "supposed to be" is doing a lot of work describing general population of this forum. It's first world problems, give us every updated charger for free but also reduce impact on environment, and don't pay your employees or suppliers. If the complainers have more than one device, why wouldn't they have invested in a MagSafe Duo Charger or multi port brick from Anker or the like.

how about putting the usb-c connector on the puck? Then when I want to travel light I don't need to carry and pack the cable for the puck. I can just pack my universal cable or charge it off my MBP charger. I know it is only one cable but everything just adds up and cables tangle in everything and are just a pain when traveling.

Fortunately, USB-C chargers are now cheap: you can get a dual 20 W charger from the likes of Anker for under $30 nowadays. As such, they are very useful for many newer wireless earbuds that now use USB Type C charging cases.

I guess if that's a deal-breaker for people, then they can skip the AW SE 🤷‍♂️ Seems like a silly deal-breaker to me, though. They can buy a super cheap USB-C female to USB-A male adapter if they really want to penny-pinch, or simply buy a multi-port charger that includes both USB-A and C ports and use it for multiple devices. AW isn't the only device that uses USB-C charging, you know. It only makes sense to have multiple USB-C charging ports available anyway.

In the name of environment Apple doing rogue business.

1. First they stopped shipping charging brick claiming that good for environment and most of the customer already have charing bricks.
2. Now they are shipping cables with usb-c which make impossible to use with existing charging bricks.
3. Now customers either have to buy apple brick for better experience or third party of mediocre experience.

After everyone switch to usb-c charging bricks apple introduces new port for more accessories business.

Good grief! It’s been 6-1/2 years. Technology changes. Get used to it or hold on to your old Watch and iPhone forever. Did you have to purchase a new USB cable once printers stopped using parallel cables or are you still using that printer? Printer manufacturers did not put cables in the box, you had to pay for that USB-A to Type-B cable, sometimes dearly.

If you have a recent Mac OR windows PC, you have a USB-C port. If not, pry open your wallet and buy a damn USB-A/USB-C adapter or charger from Anker or Aukey or Satechi. Then you’re done.

Every single time this is brought up, people will gladly cough up a cool $1,000 for a damn iPhone but think they’re being fleeced to buy a $19 charger, which is a one time purchase. How many do you need? More than one? Probably not.

I don't understand how we don't have Type-C multi-port charging solutions. At most I have seen two port units for my nightstand. Right now I have a six port type A charger and I don't want to be constantly switching cables on two ports.
