I imagine a visit to an Apple store on Saturday or Sunday will reveal the scratch resistance given how many people will likely try to scratch the demo model.
.......this is actually a very good idea !
People don't care about the demo models 👍

It’s very clear that they are confident in 18 hours being enough (which in my use case it is, never had a problem charging it). You’ll probably see this go down another millimeter as soon as they can scrape that of.
It’s usually enough for me too but it amazes me how many people I talk to who charge it overnight, so lose all the sleep data. I have a wireless charging stand that does phone, watch and AirPods on my nightstand. I put my watch on that when I get into bed and usually gets around half an hour or so, which tops it up enough to last all night (and a lot of the next day), then when I get to my desk in the morning I put it on the fast charger which I leave connected to my iMac and it’s fully charged very quickly.

Its statements like this that confound me. It’s not their property, so why are people trying to damage something on display which doesn’t belong to them?

In which part of my posts were you able to infer I don’t do sports?
maybe the part where you said not much can be done on the watch OS and it’s mostly used for notifications. Meanwhile I have almost all notifications turned off and use the watch to log all my workouts, monitor my cardio fitness levels over time, track my sleep and steps, record my daily walks including the route, create and use interval timers, just to name a few. If you can’t find uses for the watch beyond notifications, it’s very much a user error.

What tracking in sports or what you just listed you can’t do from AW4 on? Exactly.

The first Apple Watch Series 10 reviews have been published by various media outlets and YouTube channels, ahead of the device launching on Friday.

Apple-Watch-Series-10-Jet-Black.jpg

Key new features for the Apple Watch Series 10 include larger displays with 42mm and 46mm case sizes, a nearly 10% thinner design compared to the Apple Watch Series 9, a new Jet Black polished aluminum case option, faster charging, the ability to play audio through the built-in speaker, voice isolation for phone calls, Depth and Tides apps for water activities, and more. In addition, watchOS 11 adds a new sleep apnea detection feature on the Apple Watch Series 10, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2.

Reviews

The Verge's Victoria Song on the Series 10's larger displays:

Sleep apnea detection has only been available for a short time, so reviewers said they have not been able to test it thoroughly yet. The feature is now available in more than 150 countries and regions on watchOS 11, which was widely released yesterday.

Sleep apnea is a potentially serious disorder in which a person's breathing repeatedly stops and starts while they sleep. The detection feature uses the Apple Watch's accelerometer to "monitor small movements at the wrist that are associated with interruptions in normal respiratory patterns," according to Apple. If these disturbances occur frequently over multiple nights, they may be associated with sleep apnea, according to Apple.

Forbes' David Phelan on the Series 10's thinner design and Jet Black finish:

CNET's Lexy Savvides on the Series 10's ability to play audio through the speaker:

Apple Watch Series 10 adds voice isolation to phone calls. Apple says the device's Neural Engine is able to suppress background noise during phone calls or FaceTime audio calls, so that your voice sounds more clear and crisp on the receiving end of the call. Apple says the feature even works in especially noisy environments, such as outdoors on a windy day or inside a crowded restaurant.

This feature is not available on the Apple Watch Series 9 or older, but the Apple Watch Ultra 2 does already feature wind noise reduction.

Savvides said the voice isolation is "mind-blowingly good":

CNBC's Todd Haselton on faster charging:

1mm bigger & 1mm thinner, still with an underwhelming battery wow 😧

I don’t condone the practice, but I also realize it’s going to happen. So other may as well make use of the information it reveals

My guess is without turning the Series into an Ultra that’s not possible so Apple thought if they could make the Series watch a bit thinner and lighter and keep the same battery life that was a win.
The Ultra's battery is rubbish as well for what it's designed to do, the only people happy with it are normal users.
It's just Apple taking the pee out of us customers!

Really did not like Marquez’s video. He just is one of those jaded tech bloggers that are very uncreative when there is nothing groundbreaking to report. Saw some hate for Justine here, yeah she is positive but she also actually did stuff like stand up paddle and snorkeling asides a hike with the ultra… don’t get why people hate on her for being in joy. Really enjoyed one of the linked reviews here aswel where they actually created a wildly noisy environment and tested the speaker in different environments.

Watched a rather long German review by a guy in Switzerland. He dI’d bring up some interesting points about how the design is now a lot more square and that seems less elegant to him. He also pointed out that he has no smaller model but he thinks the smaller model might not fit the old bands as good with the new size. Kinda a bummer that these reviewers pass testing that out by after all the talk on „no band will work anymore“.

Also it’s so weird people gather here to complain about a lack of upgrades. There is a reason many people come from a six or a four. You don’t buy a watch every year and there is limited things you can do on your wrist. It’s fine. Just because you don’t get to spend 1.5k on a new Hermes each year dos not make it bad.
Marquez has become lazy & a Pixel fan boy, he's tech reviews are total rubbish over the last 2 years!
As for the iterative upgrades, I'm fine with that, what I'm not fine with is the battery you have to charge a couple of times a day, if you're active & use sleep tracking....Apple is taking the pee with that 😡

No Apple Watch is a living being. Therefor it's "the Apple Watch". Yes I know Tim Cook and his little minions refer to Apple products as it they're living beings but they're not.

I'm coming from a Series 7 and I'm getting the Series 10 this Friday. Here the upgrades:
- brighter peak brightness of 2000 nits: very ufesul when outdoors
- brighter when viewed from an angle
- body temperature measurements
- water temperature measurements
- newer ultra wideband chip
- even faster charging
- listen to audio from speakers
- crash detection
- more storage: very useful for my offline music, podcasts, Apple Maps offline maps, Wikiloc offline maps
- faster chip: while not a must it's a nice upgrade
- on device Siri: will use it every single day
- lighter: I love this because I find the SS (only model with sapphire display) too heavy
- thinner: welcome upgrade
- newer bluetooth version
- depth gauge

There's probably more that I forgot but I find this a substantial upgrade.
Battery still as underwhelming and the chip is not faster!, however if you're happy with the underwhelming battery you had on the 7, than it's a good upgrade for you...enjoy

Gotcha, I misunderstood.

Apple seems pretty well entrenched in the "18 hour" battery life target and I'm not sure you'll see that change anytime soon. Particularly since they seem to target the Ultra at those needing longer battery life.

So I wouldn't expect much difference in battery life until there is some change allowing for a significant increase.
They would soon get un entrenched if everybody just decide not to buy for one year!

If I buy a 10 or Ultra here in Japan, will it have the blood oxygen sensor be usable? Or because I have a US apple id, it won't even though I'm physically here?
I bought my Series 9 in Japan. I use it with its region set to the United States and a US AppleID, and the blood oxygen sensor works just fine.

As for cellular compatibility, the Series 10 models sold in Japan are the same as those sold in the US. The same goes for the Ultra 2. Here’s the link to Apple’s page on cellular compatibility.

Enough for you, really?...... but You're having to charge it twice and you think that's normal? 😳

battery life for the series watch has been 18hrs since the S0, never changed, and I doubt Apple will ever change it. its sufficient nd you can even wear it overnight and just need to charge it one or twice a day for like 10-30 min or so.
And if you want better battery: it's called the Ultra.

80% of what the watch does for him, can't be done on AW4
What are you talking about. Being doing those since AW4.

‘use the watch to log all my workouts, monitor my cardio fitness levels over time, track my sleep and steps, record my daily walks including the route, create and use interval timers’

While I like the form factor and most features of the 10, I will not trade off the battery life of the Ultra.

Food for thought: the 42mm aluminum Apple Watch Series 1 weighs exactly the same as the 42mm aluminum Apple Watch Series 10 (30 grams). Granted there are more features and upgrades on the newest model, but when they talk about it being lighter it’s actually just the same weight it was from the beginning.
