strangest product launch in Apple's history.
It's one of them, for sure.

The iPod touch original launch was pretty weird, too. They opened pre-orders immediately after the announcement and then didn't ship them to arrive on launch day. There were tons of people who were able to walk in and buy them and people with preorders waiting for theirs to arrive. I got a pretty good discount on my preorder, though, so that was nice in the end.

The other one that was weird was the iPhone 4 where the white version was unexpectedly not available at all when preorders went live. It was announced alongside the black and then just not available without any communication from Apple about when it would be available. It didn't materialize for TEN months.

Anyone in the UK know if there's likely to be a discount on these tomorrow via Edu/Unidays?
There will not be student discounts on launch day. The discounts will come later in the year probably. Due to the simple fact that the company’s can’t buy in bulk so can’t get a lower price. Can’t get a lower price = no discount.

I hear ya! But that’s a low in demand product compare to iPhones or Apple Watch. Just be ready for anything lol that’s the best way to put it. Last year Apple Watch was delayed for months. It might be worst this year. Look at what’s going on with iPhones.
Apple Store went down at 9.48PM PDT for iPhone 13 preorders.

If the store is going down for the S7, it'll happen within the next hour!

Joining in this fray now. Sucked in by that crazy iPhone 13 preorder. Dang it! Already have a new Nike Midnight Navy/Mystic Navy 45mm band shipping my way. Got a blue AW6 last year and got the sights set on Blue again, this round. Think it’s gonna look perfect together. See you all in the morning!
Yay!!! So glad you are joining the gang! Happy to have you here. The madness will start all over again!

Last year, I went from an S4 to S6 and the jump was really good. A ton faster, Blood O2/ECG/screen/always on/brightness…so I would think S4 to S7 would be an even greater change for you. And the blue…
Except they don’t have the Nike version in blue ?

ECG is on the Series 4 so that won’t be new, but Blood O2 will be.

I feel you. I was always a Nike AW person but I jumped out for that Blue last year…with my Pac Blue iPhone 12P and a ‘20 Honda Si in Aegean Blue - I had a thing going on last year. The app isn’t baked in to the watch as it is on Nike and you may not get the custom Bounce face…heck, I remember my S3 and S4 Nike AWs stopped auto-synching with the phone app after a few months on each one. Haven’t had that problem on my S6 at all. So, I don’t think the Nike thing is all it’s cracked up to be. I do love their sport bands though.

I dont understand how the pre order will work if the store does not close? Or will it go offline just for a hour or so?

Hoping it goes offline in an hour or so. Maybe at midnight PST? I hope Apple is aware and knows tomorrow is October 8th and it's pre-order date/time for Apple Launch.

I love Aegean blue! I love all the Honda blues actually. I had a Suzuka Blue S2000 and almost bought a Type R in Aegean blue before deciding on Championship White. But honestly, I just want the Nike version for the watch faces lol.

Crap you’re right. Perhaps you should send an email to apple and remind them? What if they forgot somehow? Lol.
If they don’t bring it down it’s gonna cause issues for those trying to order before their servers are ready, at least them closimg and reopening the store allows for it to only let people in when they can purchase. I have a feeling it could close In the next 8 minutes as we near the 6 hour mark.

The store never went down for the preorder of the M1 iPad Pro earlier this year.

It was just open all the time. At the time of the start of the preorder, you just keep closing and opening the app or keep refreshing the website until you see the new product.

Taking down a webpage for a new product is only done by Apple to create hype and anticipation. Realistically, it would probably take 3-5 mins max to load a new product onto a website?

A lot goes behind the scenes when the Apple Store goes down for maintenance. I have a feeling it's still going to go down. But who knows at this point lol!

Tim & Dave discussing if Apple can make the S7 launch even more mysterious.

Good luck all! Us over the pond in the UK have an easier (lunchtime) pre-order time of 13:00 GMT today instead of 5:00 PDT.

We’ll all find out soon exactly the capacity of S7’s we can actually pre-order without major delays.
