I'm a bit concerned that seeing as this is supposed to be a device for the outdoorsy types, the color just won't hold up. I mean, titanium is scratch prone all by itself.
Right now I'm rocking a stainless steel model, and all I have to do for it to look like new is polish it off with a Cape cod cloth every once in a while.
The standard titanium model just seems more practical, but then again, how many of these really actually see the great outdoors?

I’d imagine that outdoorsy types don’t care if a watch case gets scratched. It seems like Apple Watch forum goers worry about scratches even more than Rolex forum goers.

I'm pointing out the impracticality of a color scheme that gets easily worn. And I do think that aside from those very wealthy ones, anybody else cares how their $800 watch looks.

An Apple Watch Ultra 2 Black Titanium Version.

The orange accents look out of place on a black Apple Watch Ultra, I hope they go for red or blue instead, although black accents would be very elegant… 🤞🏻
Interesting. I found the orange more pleasing on the black version than the original. It would be nice if Apple could make the color choice an option.

Without new significant improved functionality, the new color, on its own, will not entice me to upgrade my AW Ultra. It works well enough and and provides me with everything I need except: 1. Extended battery life 2. 3rd party watch faces. 3. No iPhone required. Not sure what else the thing should do, to be honest, but being able to be used without an iPhone would be my prime request. This tedious pairing and unpairing is a real nuisance. I want an independent wrist computer/phone that does not require pairing with an iPhone to work and can be accessed by any phone or computer for easier configuration. The current process is clumsy and archaic.

And how would those gesture be enabled?
You only have less than 2 months til you’re proven wrong…
Ok, have to update on this one. The gestures will be expanded versions of the existing accessibility gestures (watch hand finger tap, and one or two other very minor gestures). But still no new Ultra until next year.

Unless the black finish was DLC, I would pass as anything less will scratch easily. Watches take a lot of wear.

I had a AW5 with the black enamel for a few years and I was very surprised that I couldn't find and visible scratches on it when I traded it in. I wanted that finish on my new AW9 but it wasn't available with my config.

My SBTi Series 7 still looks like new! The DLC is an awesome finish and is near indestructible.
