On the Tough Armor case does it come with a built in screen protector? Can you remove it? Thanks.

I feel quite the opposite.
I am a bit of a watch fanatic and have many, from fine dress watches to rugged sports watches to a couple of "smart" watches.
I personally like the rugged cases (the Spigen ones) on the Apple Watch. Makes it look vaguely G-Shock-esque.

I like that you can wear it how you want to - make it look like a rugged sport watch or a dressy chronograph or a tricked out smart watch, depending on your mood.

On a more practical note - I have small scratches and digs on most of my watches.
For a smart watch, that isn't going to change - a case makes perfect sense.
Slight scrapes and bumps into walls, desks, etc are part of life - why ruin a perfectly good piece of tech if there's a way to stop it?

In saying that, I know a lot of people that think my G-Shock watch is a monstrous and tacky piece of tack that shouldn;t see the light of day, so everyone has an opinion on everything...

rugged like this? This is my other setup

I'd like to hurt everyone who puts these great looking devices in these ugly cases.

why use a cover on a watch? this is beyond me ...
Well, I can't answer for others, but for me I put the covers that I posted above on mine when I run or ride my bike. I also only use the silicone bands when I exercise, saving the 3rd party bands for the rest of the time. I run/ride in NYC, sh*t happens and sh*t is always in the way. Hell, had a little wipeout the other week on a slow turn after the Manhattan Bridge when my back wheel slid out on some litter. Fell on my left side, watch was fine.

Protecting the device until I get to work or home for a few bucks makes sense to me.

Ever seen a 5000 dollar Omega or 10000 dollar Rolex with a case? Then why would you put a case on a product that is not even 20% of that value ?
It's a commodity Use it as such. The moment you bought it it was worth half of its price. In a few weeks it will be even less. The designers did utmost to provide you with something that looks sleek and nice. Why cover it???

Well, the first 2 examples are expensive jewelry watches, the point of those items are to show off...

The apple watch on the other hand is a relatively fragile electronic gadget and we have grown accustomed to seeing our fragile electronics that we drop hundreds if not more dollars on shatter with a single ding on the corner.

Besides the more "commodity" it is, the more prone people are to customize it to their personalities, tastes, and end use. I imagine, the more you invest in the jewelry aspect of the watch (for example, getting gold), the more likely you'd treat it like such and show it off.

Also, and again, unlike your jewelry examples, this is supposed to be a fitness-related device too, so during those activities, a little protection can be nice.

This isn't deep psychology stuff here and your experience with the watch is not my experience with the watch.

I use the Orzly ones for when I'm exercising, they are inexpensive, very minimal bulk, and fun (as well as pretty seamless around the watch) - Link --- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...fd-20&linkId=408bf61553436c848b719d5774e85291

hey all,

rode in today so figured I'd take a few pics of the cover for those interested... the amazon link is above, but here it is again if you need it --- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...fd-20&linkId=408bf61553436c848b719d5774e85291

here's the red one as I wore it on my ride:

Here's the black one I happened to have in my bag after I got to work so you can see it in a different color from a different angle:

and finally, the watch as I wear it at work because I love the orange leather strap:

Cheers!

A Casio G-Shock is basically a digital watch with a rubber (well, resin) cover.

I used to wear my G to do workouts and, say, my Rado for when I want to look good. The AW has taken over in almost every situation, so it makes sense to change its personality and/or protection level to suit.
