A Casio G-Shock is basically a digital watch with a rubber (well, resin) cover.

I used to wear my G to do workouts and, say, my Rado for when I want to look good. The AW has taken over in almost every situation, so it makes sense to change its personality and/or protection level to suit.

It would look like some of the old Pebble watches. I have a friend who bought one and used it for one day and tossed it in the bushes!

Not the friend you reference but I bought a clear silicone one for my SS Apple Watch just to have should I know I was going to be in a situation where it might get damaged and the darn thing added tiny micro scratches to the case. Only had it on for less than an hour. Packed it up and threw it in the garbage. Wouldn't even want to resell to anyone and have that happen to them. Might be a different situation with the aluminum body Sport version as far as scratching but I was bothered by the look too. Would rather just get my SS watch case polished and enjoy the beauty of the watch.

I have been looking around for a case but have the same thought about them. They take away from the nice design, and also make them clunky. Just trying to see if people use them and if they do can ya post pics.

Check out the Ladies thread in Watch Accessories started by Jmona a while ago. This thread here is more about Watch Accesories than the Watch and should probably be transferred to that area of the forum.

The Ladies thread has been featuring new cases when they come out and you'll find many user photos there as well. You'll find all types and brands pictured and reviewed there. They talk about bands and other things as well but I think it's probably the most comprehensive look at cases that I've seen.

I posted a photo I took of the clear silicone case in the Ladies thread BTW.

I have had grit get between a case and the device it was supposed to be protecting and it rubbed marks in it.

Black stainless steel version with black Milanese and black silicon cover. Adds no bulk and looks just like the stainless finish.

I feel quite the opposite.
I am a bit of a watch fanatic and have many, from fine dress watches to rugged sports watches to a couple of "smart" watches.
I personally like the rugged cases (the Spigen ones) on the Apple Watch. Makes it look vaguely G-Shock-esque.

I like that you can wear it how you want to - make it look like a rugged sport watch or a dressy chronograph or a tricked out smart watch, depending on your mood.

On a more practical note - I have small scratches and digs on most of my watches.
For a smart watch, that isn't going to change - a case makes perfect sense.
Slight scrapes and bumps into walls, desks, etc are part of life - why ruin a perfectly good piece of tech if there's a way to stop it?

In saying that, I know a lot of people that think my G-Shock watch is a monstrous and tacky piece of tack that shouldn;t see the light of day, so everyone has an opinion on everything...

I wasn't sold on the cases until I realized they all don't have that thick, boxy look. Deciding on regular stainless steel VS black stainless steel wasn't an easy choice, for me. Ordered a slim-fitting gold-plated case and a silver case, as well as a Spigen. It's nice to not have to feel like you are compromising.

I know this is an older thread but I love seeing some of the different cases. Here is my rose gold sport with the Case Mate naked tough case, it's saved my watch from getting scratched or dented after being whacked on several door jams. I am clumsy, that's why anything that I pay this much money for is going to be protected!
