What is the advantage of these over the lightning version other than the port? Is it just Vision Pro compatibility?

This is a great deal for folks who have the gen 1 or don't have APP's.... I am perfectly happy with the lightning version. I don't think I've ever used a cable to charge them tbh.. I always just plop them on my magsafe duo every couple of days.
Judging from the photo, the case allows you to attach a wrist strap. My APP case doesn't have that.

... looking into if further, I see that I have the first generation of the AirPods Pro. The second generation has some other features that may help me decide to pass these on to one of my kids when I get the Apple Vision Pro. I do sometimes set the case down and having a locator built in would improve the Find My experience greatly.

But I don't see why anyone with the lightning version of the APP 2 would need to upgrade. There'll be an APP 3 eventually, and maybe it will offer something really new.

Now would be a good time for me to accidentally drop one or both of my AirPods buds in a drain or for them to be stolen so I can get this.

I've had the gen 1 and gen 2 and these headphones are an amazing piece of technology. If you want some great headphones with amazing noise cancelling and transparency mode, these are it. And the Apple/Mac integration is phenomenal. Worth every bit of $190.
I’ll take your word for it. I just bought a set.

Had the first gen almost never use them got crackling sounds and apple wont replace them , I would not recommend at all

Ugh, I'm so tempted by these; I've got a pair of Threes I really like, but some good noise cancelling headphones would be amazing. However, I'm also really wanting to get some of the Maxes if they ever update them...
I read the update will only be the port, switching to USB-C. Nothing else.
I really love the Max, and also got the AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) when these went on sale for $189 at Amazon back in November.

My friend got a pair of some new Bose earphones that have more bass, he swears these are better than the AirPods Pro 2. I tried them but while these do have more bass, I think the AirPods Pro 2 sound more natural.

$349 in Australia but they are amazing. Bought them direct from Apple and got an $80 gift card so well worth it. Upgraded from the AirPods Pro first gen which were also great. Agree with your entire comment.

Target has the same deal ($189.99 for Apple's AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C) for those with a RedCard for an additional 5% off

Fortunately, the second-generation model doesn't seem to have this problem. My first gens were replaced seven times under the service program due to the crackling. I bought the second gens a year ago for $170 during a New Year's sale in Japan, and have been very satisfied. Highly recommended.

SEVEN times?!? Was this with Apple care plus or all within the regular one yr warranty??

I’m debating on getting these on this deal but may just get Beats Studio buds with close enough specs as I’ll just use em for running anyways then wait for AirPods Max update plus a sale a year later lol

Really hope AirPods Max 2s have a better more protective case plus ability to turn off completely and retains the wired connection option!!!

I missed the Costco deal but ended up buying from Best Buy for $189 with next day delivery on Jan-2. Still sour I lost my original pair but happy about the USB-C and Adaptive sounds options.

It was over the course of three years. The first two replacements were under AppleCare. That was before Apple announced their official recall (aka "AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues"). It was under that program that I had mine replaced another five times. Once they even sent me an entirely new pair, in the shrinkwrapped retail box, complete with a new case (rather than the usual white-box replacements). Those started snapping, crackling, and popping about a month after I received them, and were subsequently replaced with another white-box pair.

After the disappointment I had with the first gens, I told myself I'd never buy AirPods Pro again. But they are so convenient, so here I am with a second-generation pair. 😅 No regrets this time, though. The second gens work really well.

Wow that’s crazy. Reminds me of the MacBook keyboard issues (butterfly right?). I got my first and only MacBook Pro 13” in 2020 when they brought in the better keyboard…never got into AirPods and just recently got AirPods 2nd gen at BB for cheap but will return em since no water resistance and am looking for something to have when running.

As for the crackling issues I got my only wireless headphones back in December 2021, the Beats buds and they got crazy noise issues and only used em a handful of times and Apple replaced em like three times but warranty lapsed and issue returned and they said fixing would cost more than what I paid (under 100$ before tax but repair = $150…so sad)

What’s with these sound issues?? Does this plague other company’s products or is it an Apple quality control issue??…wonder how widespread beats buds sound issues are…

$99 should be the regular normal pricing for AirPods 2. Maybe when a new version of AirPods launch, Apple can price one of the models permanently at $99

I upgraded from pro to pro2, and to be honest alot of apple upgrades feels more like a slow evolution, but this is a revolution.

I basically upgraded to get the better "find my" and sound on the casing (since i misplace them like 4 time a week)

BUT the upgrade on the upgrade to noise canceling, is amazing, and it goes way faster to idle mode, so when i fall asleep with them i dont wake up to "Don dong dun" sound of them running out of battery, the pro2 just go to idle, and dont run out of battery.

also the turn up / down volume on the stem, is really nice.

I would totally bye them again

Apple's AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C Hit Best-Ever Price of $189.99 for All Your New Year's Resolution Fitness Needs

I purchased AirPods Pro 2’s USB-C from Best Buy on 11/23/23 for the same sale price of $189.99…?

I wish Apple would sell the case separately like they did with AirPods gen 2.
